Brimley’s manager Lynda Bensky said the actor died Saturday morning in a Utah hospital. He was on dialysis and had several medical ailments, she said. “Wilford Brimley was a man you could trust,” Bensky said in a statement. “He said what he meant and he meant what he said. He had a tough exterior and a tender heart. I’m sad that I will no longer get to hear my friend’s wonderful stories. He was one of a kind.”
John Woo, who directed Brimley as Uncle Douvee in 1993′s “Hard Target,” told The Hollywood Reporter in 2018 that the part was “the main great thing from the film. I was overjoyed making those scenes and especially working with Wilford Brimley.” Brimley, who never trained as an actor, saw his career take off after he won an important role as a nuclear power plant engineer in “The China Syndrome.”
Brimley had a recurring role as a blacksmith on “The Waltons” and the 1980s prime-time series “Our House.”

Great character actor. He will be missed.
This is like losing your grandfather all over again. Was the cause of death 'Complications from diabeetus'? From his twitter posts, he seemed to be beating it and thriving in old age.
Great Actor who is now with so many others on the other side! RIP!
It will be put down as covid!!!
Damn
RIP
So sad. He was wonderful in every role!
He was a great character actor. Yet another bit of sad news in 2020
Diabeetus
Don’t mention that name of the movie he acted in. Australian Aboriginals find it offensive and will want the name changed.
'Our House' was popular in my circles. Wholesome.
Diabeetus will never be the same. RIP
I loved that guy...he was an excellent actor ...and it appears that he was a really good human being...RIP
The death of WilfordBrimley really shouldn't be getting this much media attention since it's not covid related.
