As the pandemic unfolded, companies had to make choices about how to handle refunds and whether the companies, the hosts or guests would be on the hook.
When the pandemic happened, Airbnb had more than $1 billion worth of cancellations, CEO Brian Chesky told USA TODAY. The company made the choice to override its host cancellation policy to offer refunds to guests, which prompted an intense backlash from hosts.

Airbnb seriously, I know couple of Airbnb hosts who own multiple properties , it is like asking bank customers to donate to the bank after I open and account with them.
I'm an Airbnb host and this is dumb as shit.
They can go to hell. What a tone deaf company. How about you pay former renters to go back? I'll never give Airbnb another dime. Investment carries the risk of failure. They failed. So sick of seeing the wealthy beg for handouts.
