If you want to get in better shape but can’t stand the idea of kettlebells and push-ups, just move.

Americans’ widespread retreat to their homes in the past two years has made us more sedentary and less healthy, doctors say. We tend to think intense, vigorous workouts will whip us back into shape, but doctors suggest starting smaller. Simple movement, like standing, walking, balancing, stretching—even fidgeting—can improve your fitness and is critical for overall health, they say. And we’re not doing enough of it now.
