can heat Earth’s atmosphere, causing it to expand and drag on low-flying satellites, but all measurements suggested only mild consequences. Power grids and satellites might glitch a little and skywatchers at high latitudes might notice aurorae, but nothing serious.Kennedy Space Center, however, it was clear something was up. When they reached Earth’s upper atmosphere, the satellites experienced much more drag than expected for the storm’s magnitude. In the end, nothing could be done.
Down here on Earth, we enjoy the benefits of energy and light from the sun. We couldn’t live without it. But we are also exposed to a constant barrage of solar wind, charged particles coming from our star. Most of the time, these only make themselves known in colourful displays of aurorae. Every so often, however, the sun spits out a lot more material, endangering satellites and infrastructure on Earth. Usually, these come with the warning of a solar flare a day or two before they reach us. But recent research suggests some storms could appear with no warning at all. …App + Web
Now this
We have known that for a very long time however the governments refuse to invest into a prevention simply because most of the power grid is in private sector and they are definitely not going invest into something that doesn’t bring them profit 🙄

Solar Storms are a form of energy, is there a way we can harness those Solar Storms for energy, might help out in the long run, if we can turn natural forces into ⛽, even a certain component of a solar storm has energy potential it be good if we can do that
do you suppose these menaces might be more dangerous and at the same time more telling than we originally thought? the color of our sun and these frequent bursts of radiation might effect our temperament as a species. our brains are sensitive to those kinds of things.
What wou… might be the impact on Net Zero in Oz, and certain U.K. counties?
Claro que si campeón
Very few people realise how big of a danger this is. It will take us back a century, the economy will crumble. The illusion of continuity of life is dangerous. We need to be prepared for every hazard.
Would live to read the rest of the article.
If we can’t do anything about it, don’t tell us
Good grief. Alarmism. Strike 3: you're discredited as a science source.
Why is this story bad? Because all stories of significance now have to be.
Because human beings now need to die in a multitude of ways for their misguided belief that they are the only species that matters on this planet. We are the planet! Fuck that and we are fucked. Hence we are fucked. 'Industrial revolution' what a joke!
BillGates at it again.. 😔.. 😂
