points. They don’t get to perform at their best, they make stupid decisions, and those stupid decisions can put them in an even worse situation than before. That’s what you’re doing to someone when you leave them hanging. Even if they don’t realize it.
Are direct rejections embarrassing on both sides? Often, sure. But do they have to be? No. I teach influence, and because saying no is hard for almost everyone, we begin the course with a 24-hour"no" challenge—saying no to everyone who makes a request. Small or big, personal or professional. Most students learn they’ve been defaulting to yes without even realizing it. They also discover that when they say no with warmth and clarity, it’s usually not as big a deal as they feared.
We’re not used to saying no, so no wonder we ghost people. But you can be direct and kind even without stating the reasons for saying no. Guy Winch, host of the: “Thank you for your efforts yesterday. I think you did a great job. We all did. The fact that the group is planning to move to the next step with another therapist should in no way imply otherwise. I wish we could choose two therapists!”
Wow so sad to read this is a trend? I guess it is yet another byproduct of the current digital age where humanity is being reduced further through the absence of eyecontact and training of those so important and complex neural networks which are made through direct communication.
No we don't. If we leave or disappear out of someone's life, we don't owe them ANYTHING unless marriage is involved. Pussification of men and America.
Ghosting? More like cowardly running away. Let's not mince terms, eh?
That’s something ain’t it, in my opinion is that you are dealing people who can’t understand normal thinking. I guess people can’t or maybe mental problems with them one or the other we have always hoped the best for new couples. But good luck sounds like a dozy.
What if you ghost a scammer? Is it ok to not give them an explanation?
People of character always say what needs to be said in any situation.
People ignoring others is nothing new
That's Facebook for you. Facebook is a sick entity.
Yeah you're texting away to somebody, you wake up in the morning and find they've blocked you. The only person you thought you could talk to. It sucks. It's mean.
People are caught in a technology that creates more problems than it solves.
...cowards: man-up, and communicate.
You will never ever get closure from a narcissist. Know the signs!!!
It seems so cowardly and crude instead of facing challenging relationships (unless it was abusive).
I call this the Callous generation - pain is the point
Ghosting is a good way to reciprocate pain. You don’t owe people who’ve disrupted your peace.
very true, I agree
Do we? I'm not sure that's always the case
Meanwhile in the dating pool:
The purpose of 'ghosting' is to create a 'MISSING' and 'LONGING FOR', the manipulative person. It is a part of Trauma Bonding. 'The person will be ssssooooo happy when I deign to grace them with my presence again' is the thought. The other person is focused on THEM. Purpose.
I hope that helps... I have run into narcs myself, and the technique has helped 'get them out of my head'... I hope it can help you do the same...
narcissisticabuse causes an internal emotional disruption. Have you suffered narcissistic abuse, past or present? Now there is a technique you can use to stop that disrupted feeling...my podcast:
These are some things the technique works on: suicidal thoughts, flashbacks, panic attacks, Aggravation, Anger, Hate, Hostility, sadness, grief, guilt, worthlessness, hopelessness, Fears Stress, Intimidation, Shyness, Worry, Horror, Terror, Panic and MORE
My ebook is called, 'Regain You Self': Now a person can get at the actions and tactics of a narc, and reduce their effects on a person. You can work on reducing your emotional reactions of shock, pain, and trauma, and regain much of your SELF...
My new book on how to process narcissistic abuse goes over 41 manipulative tactics, and how to deal with them...I will have to add 'Ghosting' as a tactic. It is to cause a DISRUPTION in the victim. It can be a punishment, or a TORTURE. It can be helped with the technique I teach.
'Ghosting' is NOT 'a way to exit a relationship. It is a Narcissistic Abuse and Control method of Emotional Manipulation... the narcissist GHOSTS... it is a test of the brainwashing to get compliance, or show the person THEY can leave anytime they want. A show of POWER...
This depends entirely on the level of emotional commitment the person being 'ghosted' has invested. It can be brutal and even deadly. Mourning the ghost of someone you deeply loved is not any different than a real death. It's cruel to the extreme.
Just be an adult and communicate. It's not that difficult
🌈👻🦧😂
Wrong. We do not owe anyone anything, ever. 'research' conducted in the dark... What the spiritual path shows us is that pain (the kind that results from being 'Ghosted', for example) actually comes from our own inability to stay present. To be without thought. Not from others.
IT GETS WORSE: Ghosting of Creator (Humanity) by The METAVERSE
I don't understand why it's so difficult to simply say no thanks to someone. You really don't need to explain anything either. For me saying no is simply being a decent, polite human and to act out of respect for others, their efforts and their time.
Might have something to do with that narcissism is more common? Because exiting any kind of relationship with a narcissist in a clear & honest way is not possible: IF they understand the reasons when you explain they attack you, but generally, they don't even listen or understand
the whole anti-vaxing and Trump issue has caused alot of this.
Oh good; just for clarity sake I'll ghost you without a second thought.
