An activist group has launched a billboard campaign criticizing Coca-Cola's support of the Beijing Games.

describes how it “uses citizen activism and investigative journalism to expose media bias, corruption, and public policy failings.”

Coke’s sponsorship falls under this mission statement in that, by giving money to Beijing, the beverage behemoth is supporting the Chinese government and its ongoing human rights abuses. One such abuse is the country’s abhorrent treatment of its Uyghur population, which countries such as France have come out and officially deemed a genocide.

“China is a great power. We love the Chinese people.

“China illegally stripped Hong Kong of its freedom. They threaten Taiwan, abuse human rights in Tibet, and commit genocide in Xinjiang,” reads the organization’s website. “China even claimed COVID-19 was created on a North Carolina military base.Coca-Cola has yet to respond to Accuracy in Media’s campaign.
