In hs where im from the act is given multiple times over jr and sr year. At least one is automatically funded for everyone. But the education system with remnants of no child left behind is still leaving many kids well behind academically. Sure they pass..but pass without basis.

Wealthy parents will get their kids 504s which is one step below an Individualised Education Plan that students in Special Education get. 504s allow certain accommodations such as separate setting and extended time on assessments.

it is sad that the unleveled playing field I had to navigate in my youth is still so grossly distorted.

Translation: 'Yes, but we're just a small part of the gigantic racket the American meritocracy is running, just so it can pass on its privileges to even its most useless merit-deficient spawn.'

The College Board has proven itself to be a racketeering organization.

This would not keep happening if we returned to the time-tested methods of measuring cranial circumferences.

urLIFEwillBLOOM Exploiting loop holes doesn’t make you smart.

All this for Coastal Elites kids. The same liberal Coastal Elites that hates blue collar America and think that they know better than then the rest of the country

SAT 'adversity score': Is it necessary?About 2 million aspiring college students take the SAT every year, and soon their results will include more than whether they correctly answered the test questions. The College Board, which runs the SAT, announced it will start giving a new metric to colleges that provides context for a student&39;s if your average IQ is 85..............yeah Colleges have had - and used - much the same demographic and socio-economic data for decades. Four Reasons The College Board's New Adversity Score Is A Bad IdeaThe College Board's new adversity score, which it will calculate for students taking the SAT is meant to address evidence that children of wealthy, college-educated parents score higher on the SAT than less privileged students. It is not advisable for at least four reasons. The 'Adversity' is on the streets, where a black child is 'acting white' if he does his homework. Where parents don't care if their kid goes to school or not. Where schools are so bad, they graduate with at a third grade reading level. This won't help!

A Wall Street Journal analysis shows it happens far more often in wealthy areas. its normal for the democratic center to censorship the journalist here but not to the N.Y times It's the instructor's fault not the students' Why are these tests timed? Why a premium on rapid choices? Why multiple choice tests? What do these tests mean, other than that colleges have abrogated the obligation to assess the potential in prospective students?

SAT's Adversity Index: Academic Excellence Or Socioeconomic Diversity? The new SAT adversity index may be a return to the bad old days where your personal academic aptitude counts for less than who you associate with when it comes to college admissions. Of course there are flaws that will require reengineering—as with all new approaches to problems—but this is a dangerously narrow analysis I agree. SAT should now and forever more be only about academic knowledge. Colleges and Universities already place students into categories (fairly or unfairly) by adversity factors.

The SAT will assign a new score that factors in where you live and the crime level in your neighborhood“An SAT score only shows so much. But when you put it together with the context in which someone has emerged, you can identify…students who have scored remarkably well in very demanding circumstances,” College Board's CEO says about new “adversity score.” As we found out... it’s a rigged system. Hard work and perseverance can only get you so far.... the rich just keeps getting richer.
