Whoopi Goldberg’s Star Trek Return Confirmed By Picard Season 2 Image

Whoopi Goldberg's return to Star Trek is confirmed with a new image from Picard season 2. Goldberg first played Ten-Forward bartender and overall wise entity Guinan in season 2 of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Guinan was of course introduced on TNG as an old friend and confidante of Enterprise captain Jean-Luc Picard . But Goldberg's character would only become more mysterious over the course of the show as it was revealed that she has been alive for centuries, even meeting Picard in an earlier time thanks to some familiar Star Trek time travel adventures.

Goldberg in fact isn't the only TNG veteran returning for Picard season 2, as John de Lancie is also on-board as Q. Annie Wershing also joins the cast as the Borg Queen. Brent Spiner returns as well though he will no longer be playing his famous TNG character Data. Alison Pill, Jeri Ryan, Michelle Hurd, Evan Evagora, Orla Brady, Isa Briones and Santiago Cabrera round out the ensemble.

Picard season 2 bringing in Guinan obviously makes sense given the time travel narrative and the Borg tie-in. And hopefully Goldberg's appearance will have some weight to it and won't be a mere cameo to make fans happy. Picard season 1 of course upset some fans with the way it handled legacy characters like Riker, Troi and Data.
