Two cousins, just 13-years-old, were also among the victims. They grew up in an indigenous community in Guatemala and wanted to build their own homes one day. The dead — 40 males and 13 females — were primarily Mexicans, Guatemalans and Hondurans. Some were children died.On Friday, the Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office said it was still trying to identify the victims. So far, officials have conclusively identified six of the victims, though they haven released their names yet.
Another 42 victims have been potentially identified. The medical examiner is awaiting confirmation from the consulates of their home countries.Most of the victims are young. Some had tried to find good-paying jobs at home, but couldn’t. Many just wanted to provide for their families, or reunite with loved ones in the United States.All died dreaming of a better life.Originally from Tzucubal, Guatemala, the prospects for cousins Wilmer Tulul and Pascual Melvin Guachiac were scant.
