President Joe Biden's White House outlined a framework for $1.75 trillion in social spending on Thursday morning as Biden prepares to sell a pared-back deal to resistant progressives in a high-stakes appearance on Capitol Hill.
The Biden huddle is a little bit of déjà vu. In many ways Democrats are reliving the nightmarish week in late September when liberal objectionsa vote on the Senate-passed infrastructure bill, enraging the party’s centrists. Biden yielded to progressives’ demands during a visit to the Hill four weeks ago, rather than leaning on his left flank to support the bipartisan bill.
Biden said as he entered the Capitol that "everyone’s on board" — then jokingly asked another member of Congress if they were on board too. One of the biggest proponents of Medicare expansion and prescription drug reform, Sen. Bernie Sanders , returned from a meeting with Biden Wednesday evening saying it was “inconceivable” he would agree to a package that was missing those two critical progressive goals — as well as paid leave — all because two centrist holdouts object.
"This is exactly why we need legislative text and all parties fully agreed to that bill text," the source said, speaking candidly on condition of anonymity. Rep. Veronica Escobar , another one of progressives’ vote-counters, added that "nothing’s changed for dozens of progressives."
How do you define 'Liberals,' Politico? Do you mean the endlessly re-branded Reagan Democrats who have spent the last four decades pandering to the GOP death-cult? Those 'Liberals'? The ones Trump describes as 'Radical Leftists'? 🤔 Define your terms for once, Politico.
Narrator-“Sadly….he could not”
The pivot begins. Get ready for Politico to ultimately blame the progressive wing for whatever happens.
Maybe if liberals had not been fickle voters handing the reins of power to the Republicans in midterms back in 2010, we wouldn’t be in the mess we find ourselves as a country today
DNC is in trouble with youthful voters due to the arrogant stances of SenatorSinema Sen_JoeManchin . The party needs to pass this pared down bill and distance those 2 until a viable primary candidate is found. POTUS will not keep congress 🤦🏾♂️

It seems the democrats I voted for are just feckless all around. Let's argue and dickmeasure in debates about ideology while we get not a goddamn thing accomplished that is tangible. Still better than GOP, but still not great.
I like how it is now being touted and is just a shell of what was proposed.
Get it passed, and add to it later. People will be hollering for it.
Need to vote more Dems into Senate (still not a guarantee), vote out Sinema & Manchin, or ditch the filibuster. All are tough.
Nope. We’re all fucked forever until there’s real, material consequences for the rich and powerful
