, and the time has come for the team to look forward to the 2022 season in terms of negotiations with impending free agents and draft preparations. For Seattle, that also means answering a lot of questions about the offensive line, a group which has long been looked down upon by fans and the media in terms of its ability to protect Russell Wilson.
Moving to the medical field for a moment, consider a patient who has a family history of heart trouble and decides to see a cardiologist in order to get an evaluation of the current health of their cardiovascular system. They go to the office visit, their blood pressure is measured at 110 over 70, blood is drawn for lab work and they go on their merry way. Their blood pressure is in very good shape and they feel fine, so their cardiovascular health must be fine.
The exact same thing can be said about PBWR and the pass block grades assigned by PFF in terms of evaluating pass protection. It’s true that both are measuring the performance of a team to the ability of an offensive line to protect its quarterback, the method in which the evaluation is conducted is different. That means the two metrics carry different meaning as they’re measuring different things.
PBWR dipped in 2021 but was above avg. ESPN's long term rank cited in the article below indicates SEA should rank top 10 PBWR over the past 5 yrs. Making your QB's inability to throw on time the fault of the OL is silly. No OL will prosper with 3.0s TtT
Very solid unit, again!
Are you serious? They were ROAD GRADERS down the stretch, opening huge gaps for the run game. And, when Wilson stayed in the pocket and threw the ball as quick as the average NFL quarterback does, he didn't get hit or sacked, either.
Add Jake Curhan to this pic and we might lead the league in rushing next year.
I think they need to stop messing around with personnel as much as they do upfront. Oline play is about cohesion and communication more so than talent in my opinion
This is really about a HC who doesn’t want to coach an O dominant team and a QB who wants free reign of the O. All the other stuff is nothing more than micro-aggressions
Is average the goal to contend for a SB? Compare and contrast with KC/TB/GB. Feels like both need to happen. RW get rid of ball quicker and get better than average on the line.
It's been average. Better then they get credit for. Russ is the hardest QB to block for as he hangs onto the ball and you never know where he's going. Jackson and Lewis are solid, I like Curhan at RT, draft a new LT with the 2nd round pick, resign Pocic & draft aother C late
Has there been individual breakdowns..absolutely! But I blame scheme and playcalling as no. 1 problem. Seattle has done very little to make it hard for rushing D linemen over the years. With Russell's aging legs going to get worst if they can't get creative.
So you're sayin' It's Cable's fault?
I hope people read this. Personally, I do feel better when I can complain about the OL because its easier to like Russ. He always says “Go Hawks” and I know he means it. He also has a cool girlfriend. Why does he hold the ball for so long? Is it b/c he can’t see downfield?
Much better than they get credit for. They have the hardest quarterback in the league to block for, but do it about as adequately as I'd expect. Well coached, good in the run game. Concerns at left tackle with Duane getting older. Need to add competition across the line
i dunno admin kinda looks like they're all sitting down in that photo
Been horrible for years.
