NEW: An analysis of nearly 4,400,000 U.S. test results find that most students have fallen short in math, scoring an average of 5 to 10 percentile points behind students who took the same test last year.

estimating that 3 million of the nation’s most vulnerable children — those who are homeless, in foster care, have disabilities or are learning English — could be displaced from school.

González worries about the long-term consequences of the disruption, especially as the Catholic school Lolly attends on a scholarship recently responded to rising Covid-19 rates by ending the option to take classes from inside the school. Lolly was better able to focus on her online classes in a classroom with school staff on hand to help. Now, she’s back home again and is struggling as much with remote learning as she did in the spring, González said.

“Even to this day, things are way more difficult because I didn’t have that foundation,” González said.

Standardized tests are racist and pointless anyway. Now's the time to abandon them for good.

An analysis of media shows they will say anything to get a headline!

So everyone should automatically pass this school year

Now break it down by democrat and conservative run states.

It started several years ago when they started teaching that weird math. What did they except?

So everybody actually expects a different result from somebody watching Tik Tok, Facebook and Instagram the whole day?

If only our educational system had educated parents enough to teach their children in times of need.

Nothing new here. Education in the USA is the most federally subsidized in the world and continues to rank among the worst. If you want the federal government in education you get a federal government education.

UNIGEM MEDELLIN COLOMBIA

Thanks to lying mainstream media our children are uneducated. Mainstream media lies to us constantly!!

This ain’t happening in China...Just say’n.

Common Core math is the worst.

Why are we giving standardized tests this year again?

Common core dumbed them down, covid came to finish them off. Wake the fuck up!

GET THE KIDS BACK IN SCHOOL!!! Face to face!

What? You mean virtual school sucks and is no substitute for in person ?

It starts at HOME ! What part of that do you not understand? Teachers can only do so much ! If there is no home support and backup it shows in test scores !

It's all about the practice, Maths is all about practice

The media in America is mostly dead. Today they resemble Russian Pravda. When I turn on the media (NBC, ABC, CBS, PBS, CNN) I can only watch a few minutes before I have to change the channel to avoid becoming nauseous. They are just the propaganda machines for Democratic Party.

no doubt that test's are much easier today than when i was in school - how else can you explain the increased number of death's per year

Future Republicans.

NBCLatino USA ranks 38 in Math worldwide, and that was before the pandemic

Really? As I sit here teaching my daughter how to do her math. Common Core? WTF is that? 🤦‍♂️

We better rush back open the schools and pass around some more covid.

In other words, Trump’s education policy is working.

What happened did the store run out of calculator batteries?

Math got put aside to brainwash them with PC propaganda.

The Left has decided that schools are a nonessential business and teachers are nonessential workers.

People are getting dumber so that makes sense

3. Both are talking to counselors & addressing their emotional response to this lock down. I'm in Los Angeles finding that both schools have been truly addressing my children's needs.

2. My daughter started the 9th grade at the 2 Public Art High School in LAUSD & She's doing rather well (also getting A's& B's). They each are up for their online classes on time & socialize w/ their classmates through online get togethers & mixers.

1. It's Sad. Yet, my 11 yr old newly entered the Jr. high w/ diagnosis of ADHD & Autism (IEP w/a 1:1 & special ed. services). His Charter School comes experienced in virtual schooling & he's thriving. He's getting near straight A's & being given an award for his accomplishments.

Thank the teachers union.

Didn’t interfere with Trump’s multiple trips to golf course.

Ya but at least big tech was able to make money.

thanksgiving is cancelled.

Well duh!

Well at least they didn't get sniffles for 2-3 days. That was totally worth it.

All part of the plan.

You make it sound as if this were a new anomaly.... This has been the case in the US for YEARS.... Don't blame it on covid MathandSciences

Tragic. Predicted. Shameful. Criminal. All without just cause since kids and schools are not shown to be significant COVID vectors and teachers are at no greater risk than the general public. Schools are open everywhere but the U.S. even in countries with new lockdowns.

What did you expect?! Ofcos the results had to be poor! Very poor! Students stayed home what...7 months!🤷🏿‍♂️🙄 ofcos they had to under perform!

Well that settles it. Let's close all schools. They are not working and are inherently racist.

GOP has them right where they want them - like sheep. The less they know the better. Hop on the Trump train. Education? It’s overrated kids. Quality pay and teachers? Nope not for you. Come donate. Sign here. We love the uneducated. Who cares what other countries do.

Glad they're still alive to take the tests and catch up next year... better safe than sorry when it comes to our children. I mean this is a pandemic after all. Also shows how important our teachers are! We should pay them appropriately.

Well, the US was 31st in math out of 79 countries.. before COVID. It's a systemic education problem along with a racial one.

Common core also lowered math scores by 17% nation wide. They're attacking our children, and the sheep stay asleep.

Parents!!

For what?

Trump looks at that number and thinks it’s 4.4 billion

JOEBIDEN HAS ALREADY STATED IT WILL COST A LOTS OF MONEY TO RE OPEN SCHOOLS. WHY ? HE DOESNT HAVE TO BUILD THEM.

DUH

Fuck the common core all my homies hate common core

Well, duh.
