Tony Finau is teeing off at his twenty-fourth major championship today at Southern Hills Country Club in the PGA Championship.

Tony Finau hits off the 15th tee during the second round of the Wells Fargo Championship golf tournament, Friday, May 6, 2022, at TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm golf club in Potomac, Md.Tony Finau makes his twenty-fourth major championship this week here at Southern Hills Country Club in the PGA Championship.

Finau, along with caddie Mark Urbanek and coach Boyd Summerhays, finished their final prep around 3:45 p.m. local time Wednesday afternoon. Finau begins his first round Thursday morning at 6:38 a.m. MT. Thankfully for the 32-year-old, that one top-10 finish was a tie for second place by one shot to Jon Rahm in the Mexico Championship earlier this month. So his good form showed up recently. In his last start before this week, Finau finished tied for 41st at a demanding TPC Potomac in the Wells Fargo Championship two weeks back.

“It’s a US Open course, PGA Championship-type of course, so driving will be key so that you can control your second shots, because if not, the runoffs around the greens are going to be really difficult to get up and down from,” the coach said."So it’s a second-shot golf course too.”“Tony’s been driving it great and hitting the ball really well. It’s a ball-striker’s golf course for sure. The greens are so severe,” Summerhays said.
