Trump, Pelosi, McConnell blame one another as Americans weather pandemic. Are coronavirus stimulus negotiations dead?Discussions for the next round of coronavirus relief funding have remained entangled in disagreements over election money, with the issue of mail-in voting causing lingering contention between the Trump administration and Democrats.
At the White House, Trump suggested Wednesday that a deal isn't going to happen and pointed a finger at Democrats for demanding $3.5 billion for mail-in voting, which he argued would perpetuate voter fraud, and for pushing for an additional $25 million for the Postal Service. On Thursday he said he would consider signing separate legislation that included funds for the USPS while also slamming the validity of mail-in ballots.
"If the bill isn't gonna get done, that's gonna mean the Post Office isn't gonna get funded ... so, I don't know how you could possibly use these ballots, these mail-in ballots,"Professor Rubio said the massiveness of mail-in voting that could occur this year, and the changes within the USPS may impact that.
"With up to 76% of eligible voters having the option to vote by mail this year, and at minimum 50% expected to vote by mail or vote early, this could disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of voters if their ballots are not mailed out or returned in time," he said. Trump's"previous attacks on the USPS and mail-in voting already suggested his deliberate sabotage of the democratic process and the USPS at the same time, but this was a stunning, candid admission that his intent was to starve the USPS of much-needed bailout funds and therefore compromise overall service as well as democracy," Rubio said.
😂🤣🤣The USPS has been in its way out for years.. the so called pandemic has ZERO to do with it!!
'...[Repeated unfounded claims] that mail-in ballots will lead to widespread votor fraud.' That leftist narrative. You put it in bold. You underlined it. You made it a hyperlink. (AP) Here's a morsel of news drenched in a bucket of communism sauce. Dominos all lined up
If it like everything else he has said he will DO, I would waste a lot of time worrying about IT ! ! How long have you been waiting for those checks, the wall to finish, COVID-19 to disappear, 30 Mil jobs, and best of ALL STOP the War ! ! Don't hold your breath ! !
No, its another gov't bureaucratic intuition that bleeds cash and provides a sub-standard service. The USPS lost $4B last year and are on track to lose another $7B this year. They manage to achieve this on sales $70B+. Really? Under attack? Under-funded? Wake up! B=Billions!
(Q) who in america doesn't like the usps (A) only someone who never got a christmas card and/or someone who never sent a letter to santa.
While USPS has needed help and restructuring for decades the current situation with the pandemic and now presidential interference is not helping. They need a bailout and restructuring plan like big corps. have been given.
Exactly, it’s long broken and needs to be rethought. But it’s not tied to this election. Convenient politics the Democrats brought to the table
The USPShas been a sinking ship for years, long before Trump.
This is an attack on an American Institution . USPS gives service people the right to Vote it also has been sending care packages for service people in war zones. From the Pony Express to delivering Income tax returns this cannot be ignored what the Con Man is doing
Liars... This is a BLATANT ATTACK ON OUR VOTES. They’re removing sorting equipment and cutting work hours. Someone DIED from not getting medication. Trump is directly attacking our right to vote in ballot states. If you people aren’t pissed, you aren’t paying ATTENTION.
It's been a joke for many years...
Share to spread awareness. Many Americans don't know that USPS is not tax funded and that Congress passed an act in 2006 that requires USPS to pre-fund pensions for its employees: USPS USPSBailout business finance mail bailout USPostalService
