"People are moving more and more to apartments, where charging is not available nor easy to provide."
"This hypothetical future does not take into account people who live in apartment complexes, condominiums, high-rises, and other multi-unit residential properties where overnight charging is nonexistent." Digital Teal paint looks fantastic over the Ioniq 5's angular, 8-bit bodywork. Under shadow, it can appear as an unassuming gray, but as light hits it reveals its blue and vivid green metallic truth. Silver wheel arches and hypnotizing fractal-esque 20-inch wheels add to the visual intrigue. Aesthetic allure continues inside thanks to two-tone green and off-white"vegan leather" upholstery accented by orange stitching and piping, another Limited-exclusive finish.
This kind of test is very location dependent. Someone living in LA is going to have a very different experience to much of the country.
🤘🏽
This is outlandish. Come live in central America. I'm over an hour from a charging station. Nearly 30 minutes from a gas station. I'm just one out of millions.
Great test.
I’m having the opposite experience. Home charging on a 120VAC line is perfectly convenient for around town driving. I’m shocked about how easy and convenient it’s been with a new Rivian the last couple of weeks.
Wouldn't buy one if I couldn't charge at home
Home charging isn’t necessary if you own a Tesla EV. All others are rolling the dice. Superchargers are the only widely available and reliable public charging option currently.
Well, I'll never own one because where my apartments are, the nearest charging station is 8 miles away. And since the median home price where I live is half a million, buying a house is out of the question. Public charging might work in Cali, but good luck anywhere else.
I wouldn’t own one at all without ability to home charge.
Wouldn’t do it on a CCS connection. You can survive on 110 if you drive less than 30-40 miles per day, and it’s not super cold, or car is garaged in relative warmth. High speed DC charging is for occasional use. Constant use is not great for the batteries.
Rented a Tesla model 3 for a week while visiting family in a rural part of NC. I relied on a pretty small network to charge. I won’t be doing that again anytime soon
