The president spoke after the shooting at a Texas elementary school.

“We have to act,” Biden told the nation, after years of failure to pass new laws.

“To lose a child is like having a piece of your soul ripped away,” Biden said. “There’s a hollowness in your chest. You feel like you’re being sucked into it and never going to be able to get out.”after a hate-motivated shooter killed 10 Black people at a grocery store in Buffalo, New York. Vice President Kamala Harris said earlier that people normally declare in moments like this, “our hearts break — but our hearts keep getting broken ... and our broken hearts are nothing compared to the broken hearts of those families.”

It’s not the “gun lobby”, you assholes. There are no more guns per capita today than there were 30 years ago. What’s changed? The breakdown of the nuclear family? Our culture of violent movies, video games, rap music? Mass psychosis brought on by social media? Overmedication?

We have a major mental illness and gun problem in this country. It's time to face the fact that good and well trained citizens need to be armed.

Loose Texas gun laws and permitless concealed carry did not prevent this crime from happening.
