Last night, tireless social-media sleuths noticed that Hadid had quietly amended her Instagram bio with a new, notable descriptor: “Khai’s mom.
In the half-day since Hadid’s bio sparked all this commotion, neither she nor Malik has spoken publicly about the name, meaning we do not yet know the true significance behind it. But there is at least one convincing theory. Someone who is apparently close to the couple told TMZ that they wanted to pay tribute to Hadid’s paternal grandmother, Khairiah. This is a compelling theory. Others have noted that the name is similar to Bella Hadid’s middle name, Khair.
Whatever the inspiration may be, the name is beautiful, just like the baby — we assume. While both Hadid and Malik have each shared endearing photos of themselves grasping Khai’s little hands in their own, we have yet to see the little girl in her entirety. Based on their measured rollout of baby information so far, I imagine we won’t get a full-Khai photo for at least two or three more months. Hey, something else to look forward to.
