Thankfully, firefighters were able to contain the immediate threat, but endangered wildlife had already fled the area, ending up in Skeens’ backyard. That’s when Buck, according to Skeens, began “chasing a coyote three times his size.”If Buck managed to escape becoming prey, there was still a chance he could wander into the uncontained blaze. But by some miracle, after three days, firefighters found him.
Although Skeens’ home wasn’t damaged in the fire, the well on his property was burned, so firefighters filled it up for him until he can get it repaired., the Apple fire has destroyed four homes and eight other structures. As of the morning of August 6, authorities said it was 30% contained. The U.S. Forest Service expects to have the flames contained by August 17.
