Skilled nursing facilities, long-term care facilities, adult day care facilities, and memory care facilitiesJails and other correctional facilitiesContra Costa County has mandated booster shots for first responders and other at-risk workers. The order will take effect on January 10. Workers who don't get the booster shot will have to test weekly for COVID. The mandate covers law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel as well as workers in homeless shelters.

Fauci also sought to ease concerns about the availability of at-home tests. Demand for those tests spiked during the holiday season, as worries about omicron grew and families took precautions before gathering.
