BREAKING: Before fatal shooting, Alec Baldwin was handed a loaded gun on a film set by an assistant director who was unaware it held live ammunition, court records show.

SANTA FE , N.M. (AP) — Alec Baldwin was handed a loaded weapon by an assistant director who indicated it was safe to use in the moments before the actor fatally shot a cinematographer, court records released Friday show.

are sometimes real weapons that can fire either bullets or blanks, which are gunpowder charges that produce a flash and a bang but no deadly projectile. However, even blanks can eject hot gases and paper or plastic wadding from the barrel that can be lethal at close range. That proved to be the case in the death of an actor in 1984.

In another on-set accident in 1993, the actor Brandon Lee was killed after a bullet was left in a prop gun, and similar shootings have occurred involving stage weapons that were loaded with live rounds.Gun-safety protocol on sets in the United States has improved since then, said Steven Hall, a veteran director of photography in Britain. But he said one of the riskiest positions to be in is behind the camera because that person is in the line of fire in scenes where an actor appears to point a gun at the audience.

One of Hutchins’ final social media posts was a photo of the “Rust” actors standing together in solidarity with crew members. She belonged to the IATSE union that represents crew members. The union is to vote soon on a new contract with producers after threatening to strike in recent weeks over issues including long hours and on-set safety.

Hutchins, 42, worked as director of photography on the 2020 action film “Archenemy” starring Joe Manganiello. She was a 2015 graduate of the American Film Institute and was named a “rising star” by American Cinematographer in 2019.“I’m so sad about losing Halyna. And so infuriated that this could happen on a set,” said “Archenemy” director Adam Egypt Mortimer on Twitter. “She was a brilliant talent who was absolutely committed to art and to film.”

Manganiello called Hutchins “an incredible talent” and “a great person” on his Instagram account. He said he was lucky to have worked with her. After the shooting, production was halted on “Rust.” The movie is about a 13-year-old boy who is left to fend for himself and his younger brother following the death of their parents in 1880s Kansas, according to the Internet Movie Database website. The teen goes on the run with his long-estranged grandfather (played by Baldwin) after the boy is sentenced to hang for the accidental killing of a local rancher.

Such shootings have also happened during historical reenactments. OK Who died as why? What connections does she have that ‘should’ be kept quiet? This was not an ‘accident’ live rounds don’t make it into prop guns by... ‘accident’ Rust Production was negligent, period. I work in the industry, the 'rush rush' and 'do anything to get the shot' is a real, entitled mentality in the industry that must STOP. All responsible must be held accountable for this avoidable tragedy. RIPHalynaHutchins RustMovie

So many red flags leading up to the incident. Look you can hate Alec Baldwin all you want to, I'm not crazy about him either but a little bit of me feels really bad for him. LisaVanderpump It's tragic, I feel so bad for him, he must feel terrible. Jealousy!? I mean she was hot! Prop or not proper firearm protocol says never point a gun at something you don’t intend to shoot and never place a finger on the trigger either.

There’s so many loaded guns in gun happy parts of America that no one knows what the fucks going on anymore and which one is real and which isn’t… The situation is out of control. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Why would there be a real gun and real bullets on a movie set? Why? Who was the idiot that had lives rounds on a set?

Of course he didn't. Someone else gets paid to manage, instruct, and ensure safety of weapons used on sets. The actor gets paid to act, not know - or do - everyone else's job.

How many people brought live ammunition to the film set that day? 1, 2, many? Let's stop making Alex go viral we see more about Alex Baldwin than the victim how is this right? Like when his article barley mention her name it's disgusting!.. rip to this beautiful soul my thoughts are with her family and friends special her husband and son HalynaHutchins

But the actor and director should double check so this doesn't happen in the future to another family!! I know he can't be charged with murder but Alex can be charged if he was normal person he would be no excuses sick seeing fans making excuses for famous people He was still responsible for shooting at two crew members that likely had no business being shot at. Sounds like he was incredibly reckless on top of the obvious gun handling screw ups. Unacceptable.

IT WASN'T HIS FAULT. This is why he needs to be charged for man slaughter being unaware it holds live ammo also means not being aware it holds blank ammo. you hand him the gun without knowing it won't kill somebody? Does this mean no Boss Baby 3!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭 Growing up, my dad took me hunting and he taught me gun etiquette. “A gun is always loaded until you see it isn’t yourself.” And even then you’d never point a REAL gun loaded or not at another person. This seemed so avoidable.

update from TMZ they used his gun offset for target practice.

I think this was a plotline from Murder She Wrote. That asst. director has a history of ignoring weapon safety on set, so they should be top of the list to be investigated for this death and injury. 'Why?', I ask, did this overrated actor POINT the gun at her in the first place? I just don't understand why any gun being used on a movie set would ever have real ammo in it

Woman killed on set of Alec Baldwin film 'Rust' after prop gun incidentWoman killed on set of Alec Baldwin film 'Rust' after apparent prop gun misfire 😲😥 I was impressed by the professionalism of Mr Dereck0111 From the moment of my first free consultation,to the moment I got my profit,She's trustworthy, reliable and understanding... Dereck0111 That’s how Brandon Lee died

Somebody wanted somebody dead. Who and why? Who was the intended target? Who was the shooter and what beefs did he have with others involved with the movie? This was a preventable death. I wonder if SNL will make a reactment skit about this Freemaçonic The letter c can be pronounced like an s. gematria anagrams suspected hoax

Special effects only…no more blanks even! He should have still treated it as though it was real. Prop gun? Bruce Lee’s only son was killed the same way. So either treat him like a murderer until the trial or accept that accidents happen and not be so tight with gun restrictions I know it’s a wild idea but stay with me here. What if ALEC, you know a producer of the movie, checked his gun for live ammunition before firing?

This is some Phoenix Wright shit

One Dead, One Injured on Alec Baldwin Movie, Loaded Gun Incorrectly Fired Alec Baldwin was filming a scene for a movie that required someone to fire a gun loaded with blanks ... but when the gun discharged either shrapnel or a bullet hit 2 people on set ... one of whom had to be airlifted to a hospital. I hope everybody is okay dats crazy TMZ did him dirty with that picture of him! 😂😂 we thought that was the cool hairdo in like 2001. why would there be a loaded gun? don't they use blanks for that type of stuff?

Karma is a bitch. Its his fault, you never let someone else load your gun. How do we know if someone on the set planted that gun to be rigged? To hold Alec Baldwin accountable instead of himself/herself? of course the production company will deny claims of unsafe conditions. what else is new? It’s insane that so many people never actually checked the weapon.

How many gun safety issues here? - Loaded firearm unattended - AD did not check loaded status - AD hands loaded firearm to someone - Recipient does not check loaded status - Aims firearm at person - Discharges firearm at person Any step could have avoided this accident. Thanks Captain Obvious! he should not go to prison for this it’s not his fault. the person who should take accountability is whoever was in charge of props. this man is all going thru having to not only witness but be the one who accidentally killed someone. something that could’ve easily been prevented

I bet Alec Baldwin was his drunk usual self. Anyone who handles guns should know when their is live ammo in the gun. A though investigation should be done to see if Baldwin had something against her When I was in the army cadets they drilled it into me that you must always be aware of where your gun points and never point a gun at a person at ANY time regardless of whether they're loaded or not. Always assume they are. There's no such thing as an 'accidental shooting'.

Prop Gun Misfire On Alec Baldwin Movie Set Kills 1, Injures AnotherThe shooting took place while filming the Western feature 'Rust.' this is terrible news That almost happened in the making of the film 'Sweet back.' Someone mistakenly put a confiscated loaded pistol in the prop box.

well if he was unaware that it had live ammunition maybe he shouldn't have fired the second shot And yet the alleged AR’s that I own have never killed anyone. Never even been pointed at a person. Feel extremely sorry for the cinematographer, but for him? Karma gold. Not being funny at all but he’s not the one that needs to have anything remotely “live” in his grasp; I don’t know how he will make thru this .. this is so sad

Zero excuses!! It's upto the last person to make sure the firearm is safe!! Classic finger pointing by amateur weapons handlers who should, at the minimum be banned from firearms for life!! Good read: Why would there be live rounds on set at all? Am I asking a stupid question? I must be dumb but to me a prop gun means a gun that can’t shot real bullets ever. 🤯

Investigate this film assistant. The one who Handed the 'prop' gun off. So the justification for the second one is he thought there couldn't possibly be 2 live rounds? He was handed a prop gun and proceeded to shoot….the cinematographer?

Alec Baldwin Fired Prop Gun That Killed Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, Injured Director Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun on a set in New Mexico on Thursday, accidentally killing cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza. The incident occurred on the set of “R… Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed in an incident involving a prop gun on the set of “Rust,” an Alec Baldwin film that was shooting in New Mexico on Thursday. the irony remains, the guy used to call Trump a murderer, but he became a This is so sad — poor woman lost her light. Poor Alec has to live with this 😌😌😌😌😌😌🥺

Always assume a weapon is loaded and will fire. Never point a firearm at anything you don't actually want to shoot or kill. Baldwin screwed up bad and this death is largely his fault. He needs to be held accountable. Involuntary manslaughter charges for the person that pulled the trigger The Weapons Master should've checked the firearm before it was handed to an actor. The AD shouldn't have been handling it at all. Basically what this tells me is that it was probably a rushed situation on the set and proper set rules were ignored.

Why are live bullets even needed to be on a movie set? If Alec was told it was cold gun then it is not his fault. Look further into those who left & why any live ammunition was even there! Can’t they make prop guns that look real & shoot nothing? In todays tech world I think so! So did he purposefully point it at her as a joke or something or were they filming a scene and it hit her on accident?

Stop referring to it as a “prop” gun. It was a real gun being used (and mishandled) on a movie set. Had there not been previous issues, I would say Baldwin was in the clear. The fact there was, while not responsible for the shooting, could make him criminally liable if the issues were ignored. Defund the Hollywood!

He is rich and will always live stress free. They will chalk it up as accident and move on. It was pure neglugence for many people in charge and justice will not be served. The rich do not suffer. It's his responsibility to check the firearm when handed to him.

I believe it but all actors that are using guns should be certified so this doesn’t happen to them. One can’t trust prop people for everything someone is going to make a mistake and you’re the last line of defense no matter your stance on guns Of course he didn't. Who put the live round in the gun? Why was there even a live round on the set? WTF?!

You still check it. No matter who handed to him. This doesn’t remove any fault from him When they say 'live rounds' do they mean live blanks or bullets? Theatrical guns don't accept bullets. Where was the weapons master? where is the person that loaded the gun. Where is the person that provided the live ammunition and why would they bring that to a set. if he is to be arrested so should that person since they obviously had a motive which likely was to ruin his life.

And no one thought to check the gun. Seems shady So nobody is asking why a gun on a movie set had real bullets?! He is in the wrong so what it was a prop gun. Anybody gets handed a gun you're responsible for your actions. He should have looked in the chamber of the gun and make sure that they were blanks, not live Full Metal Jacket. So there you go we will probably be charged with this.

I'm just really sorry to all involved I don’t think anyone but the Qanons think AlecBaldwin had any fucking idea a prop gun had a live round inside. Be serious. The guy is a known hot head but he’s neither an indiscriminate asshole or a cold blooded murderer. Anywhere in the world, if someone handed over to you a gun, no matter what he said or do you always supposed to check! And never point a gun towards people!

Thoughts about how this could be a deliberate act by someone trying to make Alec Baldwin look bad, crossed my mind . But wondered who could do such a malicious and evil thing? And why? A dislike for the actor? This is so crazy they picked up famous actor the pull a real gun to shoot that girl I think somebody wanted that girl killed unbelievable

Something fishy about this entire story. I suspect foul play by someone. This is all Alec Baldwin had to do to avoid shooting those 2 people. This is my 1902 Colt SAA. The same type he would have been using. He should of known, Mr. Executive Producer. I hope never to see Alec on SNL EVER AGAIN. Cut corners, like he don’t have enough $ to it properly. SAFE WAY! Wake up HOLLYWOOD people. Stick with A PODCAST, safe ! John Wayne never did this, I’n there error.

Why is there live ammunition on a film set 🤷‍♀️ Has anyone thought how to modify guns to only accept specifically compatible blanks for movies? Everything about this was preventable. If safety had been respected this should have never been able to happen.

When I took my CCW course I was told DO NOT EXCEPT A WEAPON HANDED TO YOU UNLESS IT IS OPEN AND CLEARED, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE IT IS UNLOADED AND LOAD IT YOURSELF! Sad. It brings to memory how Brandon Lee lost his life. Why is there live ammunition on any set? I guess I’m the only one wondering why a gun is being pointed at the cinematographer in the 1st place.

Why would it ever hold live ammo? Well let’s hope so. 🙄 I guess I’m the only one who thought they shot blanks and bullet holes where some special effect. He took a life. He needs to 3 years time to deter others from getting off with merely an “oops my bad” nah ...... someone knew How was his aim even meant to be toward her chest? Even with blanks that should never be aimed at someone especially a vital area. So sorry her family is going through this.

This doesn't absolve him at all. Even if it's a plastic toy, you don't point it at someone until you both KNOW how to check it yourself, and do so. For this exact reason, without that muscle memory, accidents like this become possible. So it's Alec Baldwin, Director and prop person are all involved in this woman murder!!! Don't matter what mistake. You know know many ppl done got shot sumbody by mistake and still went to jail? HollywoodPrivilege ... help this go viral 😑

Well of course he bloody didn’t. Why even write such a headline? Not important. Treat every gun as if it is loaded, do not point a gun at anything you don’t want to shoot. Well obviously

Why did it in the first place? Why is it necessary for a movie? 'Prop' guns don't fire bullets... Only real guns do .. My God. Is it *possible* so many Hollywood liberals support gun control because they think ALL gun owners are as irresponsible with their weapons as they witness on movie sets? ***MULTIPLE*** accidental discharges? Absolutely bonkers. StephenGutowski

I don't blame Alec Baldwin for the tragedy. I'd like to know why he wasn't trained in gun safety or was he? I'd like to know what other safety measures were taken. Whether a pure original incident, accident or a hard act, people have a right to their arms. The rightwing + scientific state-shrinkers may have hoarded as many rifles as the army. Recall SocialistRA too. In England & London we are trusted to better fireworks than in California.

There’s always a psycho somewhere! Count on it. Some extreme angry person who takes things too far. This sounds like an intentional set up. Why in the hell would any real bullets be at a movie 🎥 set in the first place? Why in TF are movie ppl using real guns in a damn movie 🎥? It still begs the question how he pointed it at a crew member and fired it? The scene would have been controlled and planned wouldn’t it?

Having just been in a play involving firearms, we were given weapons training, then handed the gun with the chamber open to check, checked it again ourselves and still instructed to never point it directly at anyone. How was this not basic etiquette here? Staggeringly sad. Why is there a need to use live ammunition when it's for a movie? We've progressed extensively in using technology and have a lot of safety measures & devices.Such firing shots using ammunition can be done via special effects.

How in the world could this ever happen! Movie sets are so careful about safety. Why would live ammo even be on the set let alone loaded into a prop gun? How fk’n awful

And told it was “cold!” This isn’t on AlecBaldwin Is it a coincidence that everyone that's saying Alec should be charged are all Trumpsters? They hate him because he played Donald on SNL. Correct me if l'm wrong but didn't Mr Baldwin shoot 2 people? He shot one, then the other, one fatal. He was one of the producers wasn't he, why didn't he check all safety procedures before firing the gun....

All the articles i read before never said it was live ammunition. but it was already suspicious cause everyone knows blanks can already be deadly. But this gun had to be converted to shoot real bullets. So either way, this is sketchy. crewmates sus Beginning to look deliberate to me... What I have NOT been able to determine is, did the gunshot occur while they were shooting a particular scene If so, then Mr. Baldwin cannot be criminally liable, as far as I'm concerned.

I feel like dems/anyone who hasn’t touched a gun, are going to use this as an excuse to ban guns, when this was one incident in Hollyhood. Let’s be clear about something, if you ever see a gun, just pretend it’s loaded. Make it a rule like the other 10,000 rules u make us follow

No shit, why would a prop have real bullets... When handing any weapon, let alone a firearm that is designed to kill, it is 100% the bearers reposonsibility to be sure they know how to use it and be sure it is appropriately unloaded, or loaded with the correct ammunition. Acting otherwise is being careless and a true idiot.

Just imagine the trauma Alex going through, may the peace and comfort restore for both families Why would there even be a live round on the set? In fact, why would there even be blanks? These days you can add sound and muzzle flashes digitally for next to nothing. Guns in Hollywood should never have any rounds in them—ever.

If there were real bullets in a gun on a prop table they were put in the gun by 'someone' and if the prop gun with the real bullets was placed on the prop table it was also placed there by 'someone'. The question is was it a coincidence the assistant director picked up THAT gun? it's the assistant directors fault. trace it back

Of course he didn’t know it was loaded.... How dumb is this conversation... This was a horrible tragedy. We are quick to feel so incensed about guns being on movie sets without safety precautions but, are against any type of gun control, strict background checks or required safety courses for gun owners in our towns and schools. We are screwed up!

I'm betting an investigation will reveal Alec Baldwin was set-up. No way live rounds accidently showed up on set.

He murdered that guy. Why the fuck did he pull the damn trigger... a gun can only shoot... Triggers in the minds of all creatures is the only thing that kill... My guestion is... on a controlled set, why is the prop manager bringing live rounds? I get it, da mooslims could attack at any moment, even in the self checkout lane at walmart! Time to ditch the codpiece pew pews.

To everyone politicizing this tragedy.. STOP IT!! What's wrong with you! Someone died for god sake! Let the authorities do their jobs and stop making crazy assumptions! Your comments are sickening! I've never seen so many hateful people in my life. Seriously!! Fucking STOP! Who was supposed to use the gun and who was supposed to be shot in the scene? I smell a rat and sadly Baldwin and the director were caught in the set up instead, anyone else? Think about it.....

WTF is live ammunition doing anywhere near a prop gun? Thoughts and prayers for all affected by this tragedy. But why did a prop gun have live ammo in it? Now see this is kind of what's throwing me off about this case. /Why/ didn't the assistant director know it held live ammunition? SOMEONE on that set had to have known, because someone had to have been the one to put the ammunition into it. Who knew and didn't tell?

But the prop man did say to the crew that it was a 'cold gun' before handing it to someone else. The AD was not in charge of the prop gun. Seems like security was not much of a priority on that set. I think this movie needs to be canceled. At the very least, it should be delayed until a huge overhaul of the people in charge is performed. 3 misfires, 1 dead, 1 injured, and a crew walk-off is unacceptable.

Doesn't anyone do a quality check? A guy has a gun that is supposed to be under his control and it is pointed in the direction of two people. A direction a gun should not be pointed in. The gun discharges and the two are shot, one now dead. I don't think it has live ammunition, I think debris from a dud blank got stuck in the barrel and the next blank fired shot the debris at enough force to damage people.

It is 100% Alec Baldwins fault and he is responsible for her death. Any firearm training teaches you to check the weapon. Even after it was handed to him he should've double checked it and have an expert confirm it wasn't live ammo especially when you are using it around people Rule number 2 of firearms safety: TREAT ALL FIREARMS AS IF THEY WERE LOADED. But of course the anti-gun actor who thinks no one should own a gun doesn't know the first thing about firearm safety.

why was there LIVE AMMUNITION in the FIRST PLACE Why… why… why… would there ever be “live” rounds on a movie set? Can anyone explain that to me? Perhaps there is a legit reason but I can’t imagine what that might be 🤷‍♂️ Need Phoenix Wright on this shit What we want to know is why he was pointing a gun at the camera woman? No actor was shot just the production team members. Something is so wrong with this story. And I was disgusted seeing him with the husband and kid for the cameras to see. What a jerk move.

What I really want to know is exactly what model of pistol was used? Was it cartridge or percussion?

The media is framing this in favour of Baldwin. He is a producer and is ultimately responsible for the unsafe work conditions previously brought to his attention. And then hiring scabs in place of unionized workers. Why isn’t that the story Bullshit Why is their live ammunition within 100 miles of a movie set?

cold blooded murder Utter bullshit, the press are just looking to blame somebody! Why was he pointing it at the person filming the scenes? There’s no excuse to even be using blanks. No real guns at all. Air pistol with effects added in post. It’s 2021. Who tf put a live round in there in the first place this BS expert interviewed saying a loaded case without a bullet will not work in the “blank gun”. LIES, a blank is a normal brass case without a bullet, a 357 magnum blank cartridge is a case having a primer, powder & the brass end crimped, no projectile. A live round has bullet

Loaded guns really.....got to change that asap !

why did he fire at the lady, who loaded the gun, why was live bullets in it, how did the producer get injured, so many questions on this... Why would there ever be live ammunition on a set ever My question is: Why was the gun pointed at the cinematographer? Was she in the movie? I don't get it. How can he be unaware unless he's a complete moron. It's not a flag gun that shoots out the word Bang.

Why did he point it directly at the cinematographer? Foolish thing to do even if it was loaded with blanks. The truth will come out. This is why cancel culture is so bad. The awful things people said about him yesterday without knowing the facts ! I feel bad for everyone in this situation, this sounds heartbreaking

Yikes What’s ncredibly strange is why Assistant Director Dave Halls took the Colt revolver from the cart (without Armorer present) and declared it a “cold gun” before handing it to AB? Halls never checked it! This same guy (Halls) was on the set of “The Crow” Salvation film in 2000! If not for Baldwins own negligence, he WOULD have know the gun was loaded! He’s a professional actor w/ experience using guns. He’s had firearms training! He KNOWS to ALWAYS verify if a gun you’re handling is loaded! He didn’t take 5 seconds to check the gun & it killed her!

Someone hands you a gun, you check it. Now, who is putting live rounds in prop guns? Why were the rounds on the set in the first place? Something ain't right here. This is so sad. WTH were “live rounds” even doing on the fricken set?! It’s so easy to check what kind of rounds are in a gun too!! Maybe actors need to have their own blanks that they load themselves. Or maybe we should stop using guns in movies altogether. This is so sad.

I am trying to remove this retreat. But I can't. I think enough has been said. So sad. It's reminds me of Brandon Lee. This was reckless of the person in charge of the weapons. They shouldn't even have any ammunition loaded guns on set! Why did a 'prop' gun have live ammunition in it in the first place.

Wait. Was it loaded with real bullets or did the blank rounds gas discharge force buildup from inside the barrel to be ejected? I have read both. 'Guns are dangerous!' Nope, dumb people with guns are dangerous. Also, how many people involved in this project want guns banned yet also want to make content that glorifies shooting people with guns? Unfortunate that multiple people's idiocy ended up killing someone.

The actors can ONLY Depend on the Armorer for the safety of weapons. This is a specialized discipline for precisely the purpose of mitigating the risks of casts using dangerous props. Either the weapon failed, Armorer failed, or disaffected crew 'hacked' the rounds (murder). Why in the Hell would there be any live ammo in a movie set? There is absolutely no need for it…..furthermore, anyone, especially a prop master, knows that you treat all guns as if they are loaded. Why did she put a loaded gun on the cart, without checking it first?

Who pulled the trigger?

Why is Hollywood filming with guns and why could they not find a weapons specialist to be on set? Should not every gun on a movie set be safe? Why is there ever a 1% chance that there is a quote unquote live gun on set? Why exactly are people blaming alec baldwin? is not exactly his job to make sure the weapon is safe. its whom ever is working on the set along side him. But then again i dont think people take the time to think about that.

And there is live ammo available on a set for what reason?!!!!!!! 'Before the shooting, The Los Angeles Times reports, some camera crew members walked off set in protest of unsafe conditions, including two prior accidental prop gun discharges on set.' Bad news for Baldwin, and others in authority, if this story is accurate.

Well, no shit he didn’t know it had live ammo. There are Europeans blaming Trump for this. As a Bahamian I haven't met one mentally stable EU person, and I thought Americans were unstable. That's fair.......... BUT WHY POINT IT AT SOMEONE AND PULL THE TRIGGER? So 2 people didn’t check a loaded weapon? If this were you or I we’d be in jail facing manslaughter charges right now.

Was the weapon in battery when handed over ? Loaded or not, it should be handed over w action locked back. And as handing it over tell the recipient if it’s cleared or loaded. And the actor Shd be trained in checking it first even after hearing status and racking it themselves… this is horrible So many things we don’t know, but the labor dispute and bringing in of scabs opens an area to investigate.

Reading a lot of comments about the irresponsibility of pointing guns at people. .....how do you think think shots like this happen? Someone is standing behind the camera. A DGA 1st AD KNOWS BETTER THAN TO HELP HIMSELF TO A WEAPON WTF? 'The gun was one of 3 that the film’s armorer... had set on a cart outside the wooden structure where a scene was being acted, according to the records. Assistant director Dave Halls grabbed the gun from the cart.'

'The gun was one of three that the film’s armorer, Hannah Gutierrez, had set on a cart outside the wooden structure where a scene was being acted, according to the records. Assistant director Dave Halls grabbed the gun from the cart.' DO. NOT. LEAVE. GUNS. UNATTENDED. EVER. Sounds like Agent 47 was around

That's not the point...that he did not know. The point is did he even consider..with the few brain cells he has left..that it might be unsafe and to test it first? This is what years of alcohol coupled with stupidity does. The 1 rule when handling a firearm, always assume that it's loaded. I'm sorry to say that the mistake was Mr. Baldwin's. It's a horrible tragedy, but everyone and I mean everyone on set was at fault, including the actor and there is a price to pay.

Also, I wish they'd end nepotism in Hollywood. How many kids of stars get hired as actors, etc.? The armorer on this set got the job because her dad was a famous armorer. There are thousands of people competing for these jobs, but somehow a huge % go to people with connections. Tragic and sad. But why does Hollywood use actual guns at all? They can create all kinds of realties - I am sure they can simply use fake guns. They know people have died before and that accidents will happen. It's ridiculous to use a deadly weapon when you don't have to.

Despite reports, including the initial police writeup, it hasn't been established that the gun had a standard 'live round' chambered. Wadding can penetrate and nobody will know until the missile is retrieved from the body There is not suppose to be live rounds on any film set so the only question here is why was there live rounds on set and who allowed it.

Can we not use cgi for bullets? Simple enough solution for when an unfortunate incident takes place. Ban Prop Guns on sets forever. Isn't that how this works? I hope Alec is ok…how traumatized for everyone touched by this, but especially Alec. This was an accident, no one blames you. AlecBaldwin big hugs & look towards healing.

AlecBaldwin was clearly set up for this horrible accident to take place.🤬😪😪😪😪🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏 How about we stop using guns in Hollywood? Hmm. Novel idea? hypocrites Why are you pointing and pulling triggers of fake guns at ppl not in the film though

'cold gun' - under what circumstances would an actor need to fire a 'live gun'? Why would props even have live bullets? Any1 thinks Alec didn’t know is sleeping under a rock 🪨. Well somebody’s got to be aware. The gun didn’t load itself Ways he should have known. By weight. 1) a loaded gun weighs more... Noticeably more than an unloaded gun. By visual. 2) blank rounds have crimped ends, also weighing less than rounds with bullets. By intelligence. 3) Trust no one, clear the weapon yourself. Universal truth

who had the gun before the assistat director? someone must have loaded it themselves. this was no mistake! ignorance dosen't mean you get a free pass Alec, i hope you get sued into oblivion. Assistant: Hey here's your gun Gun Hating Liberal: pew (Kill) pew(Kill) VS Proper Trained Citizen: pulls mag to check for bullets, to see if they are blanks or no, pulls slide and checks if it had a bullet in the chamber, confirms it's unloaded. Don't point to people

Would wonder why it held live ammunition & who is the idiot that loaded it. With sound effects now a days why have any ammunition? Just a careless stupid act that ended someone’s life. Bullshit. He knew. Guns don’t kill people, Alec Baldwin kills people.

Lesson 1 of gun safety is treat ever weapon as if it is loaded. I was taught this at 3. If someone hands you a weapon assume it’s loaded until proven otherwise. Not blaming him just stating the facts. Maybe film crews should be required to take an NRA safety training class. The media has covered more in Alec Baldwin accident shooting than it had covered more on Anthony fauci purposely killing 736k of covid.

Well of course he didn’t!! Stop prosecuting this poor guy in headlines like he did it on purpose. I’m sure he feels TERRIBLE enough. This was an accident! 1. Why were there live rounds on the set? 2. Did he point the weapon directly at anyone especially a non-actor? (safety protocol on set usually requires even when firing a blank round the gun is not pointed directly at anyone.) Somebody please ask these questions.

Alec needs to be arrested, he pulled the trigger Assistant director Holy hell. “Handed a live gun but didn’t know” Absolute bullshit. This was a sacrifice live on set. Alec and the producers are way too seasoned for something this ridiculous to happen I hold him responsible for being irresponsible…any weapon, even a water pistol should never be aimed in the path of people

It always feels like a conspiracy.

Treat every gun like it is loaded. Who teaches these people? Boy scouts trained with it knew better than that and they are almost a quarter of their age. I have used 'prop guns' in different training scenarios. It has a solid barrel, a solid magazine, and is incapable of actually firing. Using fully functional firearm on a movie set the way Alec Baldwin did is negligent homicide, nothing accidental.

Why would it even be aimed at her? It begs several questions. Who loaded the gun with live ammo & why did that person do so? Also, why would you point & shoot that gun directly at someone in this particular instance? What I don't get is why a person who didn't independently verify it was a cold gun as he shouted? Only the armory crew should be doing this... Because they actually know.

Why doesn't Hollywood have their own special 'guns'? Look completely legit, but only fits a special sized blank and not any real ammo sizes? Short of hand crafting a bullet, it would be impossible for this to happen? Goodness I feel so bad for him. The big ask question here is why is was a loaded gun? As the producer, he should have stopped filming the moment multiple union workers walked off over gun safety concerns. Also, regardless of what these Twitter movie experts say, you rarely fire a weapon directly at someone even when filming. If you do, you double check firearm.

You Twitter lawyers will have this solved in no time lol

Sad for everyone Ok but still, how did it happen that the cinematographer was in the line of fire? Makes no sense... Holy shit Since complaints were ignored about improper safety standards, sounds like maybe someone wanted to make a point It also sounds like some workers were aware that the armorer was careless and/or inexperienced and those in charge ignored them. Sounds criminal to me.

Also rarely supposed to point gun at another person during filming. In rare event you’re going to fire a gun in the direction of another human, you have to triple check the firearm and fire 1-2 test rounds. Actors are trained to aim to the left or right of a person as precaution. This reminds me of what happened with Brandon Lee.

LisaVanderpump PUTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA Yikes Never point a gun at something that you don’t intend to shoot. Was he set up(framed?) Either way, Don’t play with guns. Irresponsible to point a weapon and not know if there’s ammo in it or not. Now you get to live with this. Guilty or not,it was irresponsible at the least

__RedEyedJeDi__ ICYMI Today's lesson is the Law of Attraction... Never point and fire a gun of any type at anyone. Ever. I learned this in NRA firearms training when I was 10. You can blame the prop guy, but c’mon man. Guys, is it possible that someone connected to Trump, QAnon ended up involved in this? My condolences to the family of the deceased woman.

It’s exactly what happens when folks inexperienced with firearms handle weapons.. I thought movie sets had experts on set to avoid this kind of tragedy AlecBaldwin I wonder how it must feel to wrongfully kill someone... LisaVanderpump I may be slow but… why are there guns with live ammunition on a movie set? Is it an American thing?

One of the first things taught to anyone holding any type of gun is never point it at anyone Who loads a prop handgun for what amounts to a rehearsal? Either this is some next level incompetence or a pyscho was on set. Why don't we care as much about school shootings as we do about the proper handling of a gun on a movie set? Maybe if half of our society wasn't so in love with them Hollywood wouldn't think they were so crucial in a storyline.

Only in America... 1st, was what was fired a standard round or was it a blank? 2nd, at what point was the gun checked, if at all by crew members. 3rd, who handed him the gun? 4th, wtf was the prop master doing in all this? I feel bad for him fr One of the most vicious killings in modern history Someone might just get away with murder. Prop guns on set are supposed to be checked by multiple people, I have checked many on set. Was this an amateur film crew? More than likely not.

Just wondering if the poor woman who lost her life is going to get justice or is it being swept under the carpet someone died What a terrible tragedy for everyone involved - absolutely devastating Damn, shit!.. fuck... tragedy... fuck, death. I just want to remind people that Brandon Lee, Bruce Lee's son, was killed on the set of the movie 'The Crow' due to a prop gun. The prop creators used poor materials, and one of the six shots in the revolver pushed a metal casing into the barrel, which the next trigger pull shot

So, who put in the live rounds?

How about making films without guns ……? Why was the assistant director handling the gun and not a weapons master Why on earth was there live ammunition on a movie set? How did it end up in a gun meant for actor use? Why was it not checked immediately before giving the gun to him? I dont understand how the cinematographer and director were affected. Surely the gun wouldnt have bee n aimed at them on set.

I really don't get this. Why is there live ammunition in a prop gun and why wasn't it checked? This seems like it was done on purpose. People need to go jail. Only way the industry will learn if Director, Producer, Studio and prop guy goes jail Omg 😱 This is not an accident! Who's the wise guy that made a prop gun that you can shoot real bullets out of?

They set my mans up why they give him a loaded gun messed up the ones that gave him the gun are at fault

I feel badly for Alec. He’s being pushed into the forefront. He’ll never forgive himself for this horrible tragedy. Someone fucked up, but I don’t believe it was him Wasnt he taught NEVER to point a gun at anyone, loaded or not?, Basic safety, you only point a gun at someone if you intend to kill them, stat.

Another sad wrinkle in this story is apparently a lot of the crew left before this tragic incident to protest safety issues on st among other things. Those union members who stayed as per Maddow and non union folks were brought on. Is this where things went dreadfully wrong? I was on a shoot about 20 years ago that used several innovative new prop guns. The end of the barrel unscrewed to load a harmless charge. The actor would pump the trigger until a red light turned green. There was no way anyone could be harmed. Why are these not used everywhere?

We need to be clear Baldwin was handed a real gun unaware that it wasn't a prop gun. Prop guns are never loaded with real ammo. If they are they aren't prop guns. The Hit Baby I worked on one amateur film in my life. The prop gun was not loadable. It looked and felt real but there was no access for bullets. We added the sound of gunshots in post.

Made it to “court” same day? Weird How this happened I'll never know disgusting unprofessional and a poor lady lost her life plus Alec has to deal with that not good NPapantonisWFTV How does a “prop gun “even hold a real bullet Apparently it’s not a “prop”?

MSMWatchdog2013 That is so very sad for all ..the victms and Baldwin...I could even imagine to understand what he is feeling or the families of the victims. what the shit He needs to be prosecuted. Someone was killed. Why did he point the gun at two people who were not actors in the movie? Why are there live rounds on a movie set! It's supposed to be make believe. 😕

LockHimUp Keep positive Alec!! how the hell did it trade hands that many times without someone checking the fucking chamber. Like someone who knows what the fuck a gun is should be on set handling that at all times. Damn it would be hard to live after that HOW IS A LOADED GUN A PROP, I WANT ANSWERS WTF This is just so heartbreaking for everyone involved, I hope Alec will be ok, this will haunt him forever 😔💔🇦🇺

What everyone seems to be ignoring here is that this is just another tragic consequence of America's obsessive love affair with guns and violence. Who loaded live rounds while on set? Why? Damn! Why don't they just do the gun firing in after effects? This has happened to many times now. There should NEVER be ammo in these guns, EVER. Not even blanks. All of this can be done in after effects. Don't EVER let this happen again.

Was AB’s blood tested for alcohol and controlled substances? HowToGetSomeoneToKillYourBossForYou Alexa play kanye west jail. Making westerns is just as dangerous as living in modern day Texas. There are two safeguards that were ignored. Make sure prop guns are unloaded and don't aim prop guns at colleagues. These safety rules, are known, repeated, and there for a reason.

I could imagine perhaps Baldwin would not be guilty of negligence if he had shot another actor while filming a scene that calls for “shooting” another character. But what could justify his aiming ANY gun at the cinematographer? Sounds very suspect to me. How did heshoot the director& cinema person?.. it is a tragedy but how did they get shot and not someone in the scene that was taking place?

''In another on-set accident in 1993, the actor Brandon Lee was killed after a bullet was left in a prop gun, and similar shootings have occurred involving stage weapons that were loaded with live rounds.'' There should NEVER be a loaded gun anywhere NEAR a movie set. Not supposed to even be live ammo on set.

Just tragic. Alec must be beside himself. I am so sad for the woman who was killed, her child and husband. And I'm very sad for Alec Baldwin as well. I think of how terrible I would feel if I accidentally killed the mother of a young child. Question is, what was he doing shooting the gun at her, or did it just go off?

This just sounds like a set-up By Trump supporter😳 To set Mr Baldwin up. Am I the only one? Stop making excuses. It was not a prop gun. He did not check to see how it was loaded. He violated all Hollywood rules and pointed it at someone else. At best neglegent homicide. Why would a set gun have live ammo? Did halyna know something?

guns don't kill pe- ... wait There should have never been actual real ammunition on a movie set. This is eerie like how could this happen. If the person isn't genuinely upset, he's a great actor.

Blanks are considered live ammunition. A LIVE FUCKING ROUND was in the Chamber 🤬 RIPHalynaHutchins This is why idiots who aren't educated in firearm safety shouldn't be playing with loaded firearms, typical Hollywood types. Weapons masters are the only ones trained and certified to handle props. No assistant directors. What kind of monkey shoots a gun at people handed by someone who knows shit about guns? Here, take this gun, it's ok, its ok, now go shoot at the camera. And you go shoot. Infuriating

Technically speaking does that make him guilty of manslaughter? I wonder if he will do any time? I know if it was a regular non celebrity they would be in prison for around 10 years. Terrible accident. I feel for the poor woman who died and Alec, this is tragic. I can't imagine having to live with knowing you accidentally killed a woman. My heart breaks for them both. That picture of him is heart wrenching. He is obviously broken.

Only the Bald Win Alex stood in front of Judge Judy accused of Manslaughter. He stood in the dock with eyes downcast as the Judge whisked her hair and padded down her black Mandrake cloak. 'Sir, look at me.' She said sternly. Alex looked. Next thing the judge pulled out a 45... Blame the gun! Live ammunition? On a film set? How is this even possible?

How the royal eff did THAT happen? Did Baldwin conduct a safety check of the weapon after it was handed to him - as is standard practice? JensenAckles gave an interview of Rust production experience where he attested that the Armorer not only conducted safety checks but taught and encouraged him to do so, too.

I've had a gun 🔫holster strapped around my waist on set I've handled a 🔫 & rifle on set I didn't feel scared 😨 But, I never had to fire blanks, only pretended to fire a rifle, per director Wanted me to crazily pretend to fire a rifle into the air I did so Safety comes 1st.🎬🎥 Terrible for all involved. I don't think you could ever get over something like that....

So what kind of bullet goes right through someone and into a person behind them? Def not a blank. Sounds like someone really set up Baldwin. Who could hate anybody that much I learned when I was 8 years old that a gun is always loaded until you clear it. Don’t trust anyone else. Dad was ww2 navy. So it's not a prop gun. Why do we keep calling it a prop gun?

Maybe I'm missing something, but why would there be a loaded weapon with live rounds on the set at all? Enlighten me, I have to be missing something somewhere. Also if a gun can shoot a live round..its not a prop gun..

It all sounds like the plot from a latter-day typically bad Bruce Willis movie. It sounds like an accident sure but I was always taught assume any weapon even if it is supposed to have blanks in it is lethal unless you loaded it yourself or confirmed what it was loaded with. Boss baby is a natural born killer

There’re gonna be more gun restrictions in shooting locations (non pun intended) Only in America lol That dude had something terrible coming his way. Well deserved. vijaysharma1122 but why was he pointing it at her, no scene was being filmed!!! why washe pointing a gun at her!! i bet she rejected him and he murdered her right in front of everyone, then 'acts' like it was an accident like Lee......

Look at the pain in his face. Heartbreaking for everyone. Someone else probably wanted her dead and found it easier to have someone else do it beyond their own knowledge. Just like ANY owner or user of a firearm should check before use. He should be 100% charged. If a person handed me a gun and said there is blanks and I shot and killed someone, I would be charged. You are responsible if you squeeze the trigger.

Why tf was a prop gun loaded with actual bullets 😐 Heart goes out to family and the entertainment for such tragedy. May God Be With You All. Blind trust with a god damn gun sounds about right smh BanHollywoodGuns It was not a prop gun. Stop calling it that. So incredibly sad He’s a victim. Im not trying to hear anyone out.

He thought Halyna was his daughter. Always remove the clip and shoot down a few times before. My prayers go out to all the family!

It was not a bones day Que pendejos 🤦🏻 Somebody is full of it about who knew what and who didnt …jus imagine that anybody RIGHT NOW in the movie directing business can intentionally load up a gun hand it to a actor without them knowing .and then fire it at somebody that the other person didnt like.. doin dirty work

Was it pointed directly at her? Did a bullet ricochet off an object? This incident reminded me of the death of Brandon Lee! Anyone believe that it is just a curse I don’t!!

I’ve grown up around guns my whole life and can’t understand how the gun wasn’t properly checked by a trained armorer on set. Seriously, how do you miss the live ammunition when checking the gun? Why the fuck is there live ammunition on a movie set?! If its AP dont trust it Prior to Alec Baldwin set shooting there were problems. The set workers were Union workers. They become disgruntled due to not being paid, & other reasons. They all quit. Then non-union workers were hired. Could a disgruntled union workers put real bullets in Baldwin's prop gun?

How does the cinematographer get shot by a loaded gun, shouldn't it have been a fellow actor? Yeah...'accident'. What happens in Mexico stays in Mexico Went from pretending to be Trump to pretending to be Dick Cheney. He's going to get sued into oblivion, because he's also the producer who signed off on hiring non-union staff.

Why is there live ammunition Bottom line and biggest question- why did he point the gun at a person(s) in the first place? I think you need to add an addendum and clarify for everyone what “live ammunition” means in the film industry which is something entirely different to what anyone else would consider live ammunition…very irresponsible reporting.

Why would it hold live bullets? Who loaded it? Well...insert Baldwin gun joke, NRA, usual stuff. HERE. Why on earth would you even have live rounds on a set?

Why is there live ammo on a film set? Did a security guard hand him his gun? Why the hell would 'LIVE ROUNDS' (AS us, the public has been told) would be on any damn ass set? AlecBaldwin & the precious soul of Halyna Hutchins should NOTbe where they both are. Suggestion: before any shooting scene, take a test fire. God bless her precious son

Why would you have live ammunition on a movie set is my question 🤔. Sounds like absolutely no safety protocols in the movie industry. You always,ALWAYS! Check a real firearm before using it in any manner. Duh. Why was their a gun with live ammunition on a movie set to begin with. Stuff should be triple checked before the shoot even begins. I smell a negligence and wrongful death suit in the future - and not against Baldwin! He didn’t know. Just awful.

Why a loaded gun? And why did Baldwin not check it? why are there even live rounds on a movie set? That is fcked up Was the TFG or one of his minions in the area? Why is Alex pointing the Gun towards the cinematographer Was she part of the actors doing the scene? How is live ammunition of any kind even present anywhere near props let alone a professional film set?

OMG! Who handed him a loaded gun? AlecBaldwin 😮 You can’t expect a waiter or delivery guy to check the food make sure that the food isn’t poisoned, that’s either supply or chef. If it’s a prop gun, and you were handed it, the assumption is it’s a prop gun. Only in the US you would require the actor to “treat it as real”i guess

The gun tragedy/situation in the US is relentless and crazy to be fair!!!🤔🤔☹️ Who TF put live ammunition in it? Did someone set this whole thing up? It sure sounds like it! How the fuck is that even possible lmfao I thought the rules on set were changed after the death of Brandon Lee. Why on earth would you have to have live ammo on set in this day and age?

Why were live rounds available This is America, it will be nobody's fault, and Alec Baldwin will go on late night TV to encores ! You say prop gun when it was a real gun being used as a prop. Why was there a read loaded weapon on the set in the first place? Absolute negligence.

So fucking sad I feel so badly for all involved in this tragic incident. Can't imagine how Baldwin must be feeling. This will haunt him for the rest of his life. fck man i'd hate to be him you can see the anguish in his face....jesus There's several issues here 1 US gun culture, it sees a school shooting on avg 1.5x a week 2 Why the fk is live ammo anywhere near a set shooting weapons 3 How did a live weapon get mixed with a non live weapon, on a gun shooting set. Fear a setup, sadly man slaughter

Why was there a live gun on set? Wtf MTV Punked has gone too far. WhereIsAshton Never point your weapon at a living person unless you plan on killing them. Basic weapons handling. They want to play games and make it look like real life, well, they got real life real quick. No amount of blaming and finger pointing will bring her life back.

Why was the gun pointed at anyone when the trigger was pulled? Why was he even pointing the gun at her? Loaded or not, a gun should never be pointed at anyone. A number of things must have gone wrong to lead to this which ended in the death of a person...the responsibility for which is the idiot with the gun...unless it's a controlled situation why would you point a gun at anyone on a film set.

Safety is not an accident. Mistakes are accidents.

That AD broke so many god damn rules doing that I can’t even imagine how that person got in the DGA Crazy shit Anyone working with guns of any sort, prop or hot should be trained in the handling of said artifact. Why would they even have live rounds on the set? Why did he fire it twice? Revenge by DT crazy for impersonations on SNL?

😢 Publicity I call it bc Hollywood is cracked
