New York Virgin Atlantic has filed for bankruptcy in the United States as the global airline industry reels from the coronavirus pandemic.
The company, which is based in the United Kingdom, filed for Chapter 15 bankruptcy protection in New York on Tuesday. Virgin Atlantic hasn't been immune from the airline industry's pandemic problems. In July, the company received a £1.2 billion rescue deal to keep the airline solvent just days before it was due to resume passenger flights.

This is a misleading headline. Chapter 15 is a procedural filing in order to support their solvent recapitalisation in the UK. Virgin is not declaring bankruptcy in the way people will take that to mean. You should delete this tweet.

It’s NOT bankruptcy. It’s US courts allowing a foreign company time to reorganise and protects against claims from creditors while that happens.
we have to do smt to support the airlines, maybe they can recoupe fuel costs during this crisis or smt, they are not banks, we cannot afford to just live without them.

Titles such as business magnate, investor and founder of Virgin Atlantic cannot guard against bankruptcy. Even a Knighthood by the Queen of England does not help. What will help is a PPP loan in the millions provided to rich and famous recipients whose records are kept secret.
