The Sony sequel hit pre-pandemic levels to come in well ahead of the first 'Venom,' as well as helping to fuel the biggest weekend overall since the COVID-19 crisis struck in North America.

The follow-up was released exclusively in cinemas versus going out simultaneously on premium VOD or a streaming service.

The news gets even better for Hollywood and theaters. Cinemark, one of the country’s three largest chains, enjoyed its biggest opening weekend in history, as well as its biggest weekend overall. The chain is also reporting that this could go down as the second-biggest October weekend of all time. “This is another strong example that people want and need to get out of their homes for an immersive entertainment experience,” Cinemark CEO Mark Zoradi said in a statement.was the previous record-holder for best three-day opening of the pandemic era with nearly $81 million.set a new pandemic-era benchmark when opening to

This movie was my favorite of the year. It’s so good !!!

it was worth it

MatthewACherry Damn!

MatthewACherry The day I’m able to buy this movie and just be able to watch it when ever I want will be a happy day.

MatthewACherry There have been 2 Venom movies so far & Venom still doesn’t have the Spider-Symbol...

Well good for Sony

Was alright but should have been R Rated . The fights lack that intensity .

no excuses. take licks

amc power

La gente vuole proprio tornare al cinema, pure per questa cosa.

Wow, more than the original without covid

Liked it more then the first. But I got major issues with Carnage

Really? I couldn’t even watch the 1st one…BORING! I fell asleep at the show and at home when I tried watching later on…and they made another one!!!

I hope Venom2 continues to do well! One of those movies that critics hate but the majority of the audience love. The film stayed true to its general tone and, in my opinion, produced a genuinely entertaining film. I've seen Venom2 3 times now, and it's still f*cking fantastic

It’s not very good but its good to know that theaters aren’t totally dead.

Where are all the MCU fanboys saying sonyverse will fail lol.

Really enjoyed it. Tom Hardy and Woody Harrelson could read eachothers grocery lists and it'd be entertaining, great chemistry working off eachother.

Theatrical release only is 100% the way to go movies

We're waiting for the baby! C'mon Disney! No.

THEY ONLY DID THIS, BECAUSE A HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA SEQUEL WAS SUPPOSED TO BE RELEASED THIS WEEKEND, but NOPE. COVID SCREWED UP PLANS AND HAD TO RESORT TO PRIME VIDEO IN 2022, SONY WASN’T ALLOWED TO BEAT OUT MARVEL STUDIOS, LetEternalsMakeMoreOnOpeningWeekend

Who would watch this?

I wonder how genuine these numbers are

The original movie grossed $80.3 million on its opening weekend

What a waste of money. I should have waited until it streamed

So tired of these shitty movies.

Sony Saved Cinema?

Let's go Sony!

Congrats ❤

Just went for the post credit scene

And Suicide Squad?

PG-13? No movie for me ...

Oo yeah 🔥🔥🔥

How are the reviews on it compared to the previous one?

Spend your money on Dune. A piece of art that really deserves that. Not on this CGI crap.

Fell asleep watching it.😂
