A single Juul pod contains as much nicotine as a pack of cigarettes. Some users are turning back to traditional cigarettes to try and quit their addiction.

The FDA has approved seven treatments for smoking cessation, including patches, gums and lozenges. Vapes are not among them, said Dr. Elisa Tong, an associate professor of medicine at UC Davis.

“What they’re doing is trying to taper down super-high levels of nicotine,” she said. “Unfortunately, manufacturers don’t have a manual on how to quit their devices.” “Young people are fumbling in the dark with what seems logical,” Graham said. “But there is no safe level of cigarette smoking.”

Not enough options for vapers and smokers

If they want to smoke and die sooner, that's there business.

breaking the addiction cycle starts with true and honest intentions. Quitting simply means stopping the nicotine intakes permanently (cig., e-cig, batches, gum, and chewing). Though. Nicotine dependency is more psychological than chemical (as in Heroin)

Heroin was used to get people off Morphine. Really.

Dann fools.

Ridiculous. Juul is not standard fare when it comes to e-cigarettes, most don't give such a high blast of nicotine. The media is not helping people understand vaping or its value as a harm reduction tool when it suggests Juul is the standard. Very misleading.

wtf thought this was the onion.

It's the circle of life.

This is a great Big Tobacco story planted by... the LA Times? Wow.

For about 40 years we pleaded, berated, criminalized, and begged to get people to stop smoking cigarettes...we were just about there and now big tobacco has created vaping and e-cigarettes. Don’t people see? It’s the money!

Great work big tobacco you did it 👏🏿 👏🏿 👏🏿

Lenardthagod Cigarette companies are playing chess not checkers. They’re gonna get their money out of you either way.

BS. 1) Cigarette smokers lie about how much they smoke. Always. 2) Vaping does not burn nicotine, and burning nicotine is far far more carcinogenic.

Yep. It’s a crack pipe. I have been a nervous or social smoker in my life and started with Juul because it didn’t smell and was safer. I am addicted for the first time in my entire life. It’s bad and needs to be banned.

Not exactly, users can choose the level amounts in the vape. With vaping, the user also avoids the other deadly chemicals found in traditional tobacco, such as carbon monoxide or formaldehyde.

this is a gross exaggeration and I’m certain who wrote this had just the cute little clickbait title in mind then proceeded to impovise an entire article imagining themselves as Ron Burgundy playing the jazz flute. Write about something that matters and stop fear mongering.

you can get pods with 3% nicotine instead of 5%...

They should try Varenicline, instead. It works and saved many friends of mine from nicotine addiction

⛽️ lighting hard asf smh! 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

What a excellent world we live in, next up Tesla turns to fossil fuels to get back to where it all began. humans

Seems ill researched or bad intent by the article author Great, the media has convinced people to go back to smoking. How about using something other than a Juul and tapering instead?
