Vandalism of new Brooklyn George Floyd statue may be hate crime, officials say

The statue on Flatbush Avenue was dedicated during Juneteenth celebrations a week ago.

A George Floyd statue in Newark, New Jersey, was also recently vandalized,New York police distributed photos from security video that captured four people walking in the area of the Brooklyn statue at the time.On Friday, the former Minneapolis police officer convicted of murdering George Floyd,Floyd, a Black man, was killed when May 25, 2020, when Chauvin, who is white, knelt on his neck for 9½ minutes.

It's odd. Blacks and some Whites riot, burn, loot, and destroy businesses and neighborhoods yet few are arrested and these are later released with no repercussions. A statue of a Black man accidentally killed is defaced and 'We must find jail and/or execute who did it. Hypocrisy.

Really Sad, why people feel they have to resort to destroying things🤔💙💦

Damaging or tearing down statues is WRONG. We need history or else we are doomed to repeat it.

For those who live/have lived in NYC, and have had their property stolen/damaged, or have been the victim of simple assault or mugging: Was there ever an 'investigation' that involved anything beyond taking your statement, and filing it away?

A lot of people have no problems on destroying and defacing historical statues, and then everyone loses their heads when this one was deface. Everyone should be glad that it wasn't destroyed.
