Opinion | The US has blown over $21 trillion on the War on Terror instead of ideas like forgiving student debt or improved healthcare. It's time to invest in making American lives better. By lindsaykosh of natpriorities for ips_dc.

critical question:The president noted that we have spent $300 million a day in Afghanistan for 20 years. It's a shocking figure, but it's only part of the cost of the wide-ranging militarization the US has undertaken around the world and in our own country since 9/11.

Twenty years after 9/11, our thoroughly militarized foreign and domestic policies have come at a cost of, according to new research my coauthors and I published at the Institute for Policy Studies. Those costs have included the wars, ballooning Pentagon budgets, and our massive global military presence. They also include punitive immigration and border enforcement and the reorientation of the FBI, DEA, and other law enforcement agencies around counterterrorism with newly expanded powers.US militarized spending since 9/11 has caused 900,000 deaths from the global war on terror and led to 5 million deportations from this country. It has put $1.

lindsaykosh natpriorities IPS_DC We’ve spent over $21 trillion on the WarOnTerror in 20 years. How much have we spent on illegals during the same time? As a middle class tax citizen, I view the this a worthwhile expense to protect my family but a waste of my money to support people who shouldn’t be here

lindsaykosh natpriorities IPS_DC I’m a middle class USA citizen. I work at a hotel & wifey is a teacher. I have type1diabetes & one child because we are responsible adults who don’t Procreate when we can’t afford to do so. I’ll pay my loans, insulin & to fight terrorism but I don’t want to support illegals

PoliticsInsider lindsaykosh natpriorities IPS_DC So much waste/ corruption in contractors too.

PoliticsInsider lindsaykosh natpriorities IPS_DC A war on terror turning terrorists into body bags brought nothing back but terror and body bags. *say that five times fast* Serve your ACTUAL country by pushing for American investments. Reforming student debt, forgive outlandish debt, push for M4A.

Haitians on Texas border undeterred by US plan to expel themDEL RIO, Texas (AP) — Haitian migrants seeking to escape poverty, hunger and a feeling of hopelessness in their home country said they will not be deterred by U.S. plans to speedily send them back, as thousands of people remained encamped on the Texas border Saturday after crossing from Mexico. Latin American refugees... Let them in all day. Haitian refugees... Reject and send back. Cuban refugees... Vehemently swear off immigration. Tell me why the DNC is so particular with it's policy? They are escaping for a reason. We should find a way to welcome them. We have our own impoverished people to help here. Go home and fix your own country.
