United States envoy and the Taliban resume negotiations on ending America's longest warn after earlier signaling they were close to a deal.

That attack again raised fears among Afghans that a U.S.-Taliban deal will bring little peace for long-suffering civilians who have died by the tens of thousands in the past decade alone.

It was not immediately clear when a deal might be reached. President Donald Trump, who wants to bring home at least some of the 13,000 troops he says remain in Afghanistan before next year’s election, was briefed on the negotiations Friday. The U.S. and NATO formally concluded their combat mission in 2014, but American and allied troops remain, conducting strikes on the Islamic State group and the Taliban and working to train and build the Afghan military.

The Taliban, which now control roughly half of Afghanistan and are at their strongest since their 2001 defeat in the U.S.-led invasion, have dismissed the Afghan government as a U.S. puppet but have repeatedly offered talks with anyone who comes to the table as an ordinary Afghan.

Great to see that realDonaldTrump is negotiating with terrorists. What can go wrong!? P.S. , your social media intern seems to be warn out. Give them a vacation before they make you look even more like stupid amateurs. Idiotsandincompetentmoronsallaround

Can you imagine how fox news would have reacted if it was Obama? They'd have called for him to be sent to gitmo

US troops 18 years in Afghanistan “fighting” taliban & isis. Today both taliban & isis are stronger than ever!! Something is wrong here.

As they say, warn is hell.

Making a deal with the devil: I guess those that matter don't need to be part of the future of their own country. At least hell's fires will keep them warm in the winter.

Oh, so we DO negotiate with terrorists.

Breaking news. just declared Afghanistan to be warn. This will put on hold ending the war. Typo will delay the deal between the Taliban and the United States

klaasm67 The Taliban was willing to negotiate 17 years ago but the US was too gung ho and look where we are now

terrorists..

a war that began with building a pipeline for enron. yep - it's that old. and that wrong.

Negotiations with terrorists?

Their white dresses should all be showing a lot of red spillage.

Why is the US negotiating this and not the Afghani government?

I do not believe the Taliban apemen can co-exist peacefully with a democratically elected Afghan government. They will do something stupid after the US is gone and we will be back to square one.

Yeah , those guys look like they will summarily execute every female that can read and ban thought.

A deal with the Taliban?

Well they aint all dead yet so, whats to talk about. Job isn't done.

'Retreat with dignity'?

DSS

Taliban kicked America’s ass.

You guys should hire some copy editors.

Ending the war is in absolute benefit of both parties, US and Afghans (Taliban). They can provide a strong commitment not to keep uninvited guests anymore and US will withdraw all forces back home, both nations can take a calm breath

The gop and the Taliban have so much in common

*warn*? 😐😐😐

GOD DON'T let these people MUCK this up!

Give peace a chance

America’s longest “warn”? Really, ? You’re supposed to be an unbiased, informative news agency. You can’t even speak English? I would’ve failed college English class for less, and now I’m just a stupid welder.

So realDonaldTrump is negotiating w/terrorists?! So where's the Tea Party? SarahPalinUSA? Oh, that's right...it was never about taxes, small government and fighting terrorism. It was just about the Black guy who was President. That's right! I keep forgetting. Sorry...carry on.

so glad we have “the chosen one” to take care of this. Oh, he’s playing golf.

A Bush started this

Don’t tell hasanthehun his pals are in town

You mean after 10 plus years of american muscle we didnt defeat the Taliban but are making a deal with them?🤔 Ok, i guess Iran will be an easier target

A deal? Wasn’t the mightiest military in the history of the world supposed to defeat them and oust them from power?

Warn? Uh... I think you meant 'war.' Hehe. I'm just messin' with ya, it happens. You outta see the typo my friend SixHundredBucks did recently, it was way worse.

Warn huh?

Lol. The USA will end up wasting 19 years and billions of dollars only to go home just like Russia did. What a waste of life.

....warn

Warn?

'America's longest warn' = typo
