Seattle Sounders midfielder Albert Rusnák tries to slow down Houston Dynamo FC forward Sebastián Ferreira during the first half of an MLS match at PNC Stadium on Wednesday, May 18, 2022, in Houston. For the second straight game, Houston played a good portion of the game a man short. Against Seattle on Wednesday, midfielder Coco Carrasquilla was given a second yellow card in the 54th minute, putting the Dynamo in a tough spot while down a goal.
A valuable three points for Seattle, which is working its way up MLS’ Western Conference table. A disappointing result for the Dynamo, who go on an extended road trip following the loss. The Dynamo got back to a level playing field in the 82nd minute when Seattle’s Alex Roldan received his second yellow card. But the Sounders wouldn’t allow the Dynamo, who competed well, to get back in the game.. A game which Dynamo coach Paulo Nagamura called his players warriors for playing the final 55 minutes a man short.
Temperature at gametime was 86 degrees, roughly 30 degrees warmer than in Seattle. Because of Houston’s high heat in the summer, the Dynamo have played a healthy number of home games early in the season. The heat didn’t seem to both the Sounders, who seemed to conserve their energy.Defensively, Houston was without defender Adam Lundkvist, who has captained the team, and centerback Teenage Hadebe. Lundkvist was ejected in the 35th minute for a foul against Nashville.
