Face masks will no longer be mandatory in public places and schools in England and COVID-19 passports will be dropped for large events as infections level off in large parts of the country, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said.

Britain's Prime Minister Boris Johnson, centre, gestures, during a visit to Finchley Memorial Hospital, in North London, Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2022.

While hospitals in northern England still are getting pressed by high caseloads and infections were still rising in schools, Johnson said hospital admissions and patients in intensive care units elsewhere in England were stabilizing or falling. “We will trust the judgment of the British people and no longer criminalize anyone who chooses not to wear one,” Johnson said.

Johnson and Health Secretary Sajid Javid both suggested that the government is planning for a post-pandemic period when it can treat COVID-19 more like the flu.

CDC encourages N95, KN95 masks to stop COVID-19 spread amid omicron surgeN95 or KN95 masks are being recommended by the CDC over cloth masks to ward off the omicron variant. Here are the benefits and when you should wear one. Surgical earloop masks of 2 or 3 ply are quite good at stopping droplets and aerosols from being emitted from the respiratory system. Not as good as n95 but much cheaper and more available. It took them damn near two years to figure this out? What happened to reporting deaths? Only infections? If we are down to less than 1% death rate per 100,000 in population, then let's move the fuck on! At this point it's a bad cold. So sick of this!

'Don't let up,' wear high-quality masks, doctors plead: Utah reports record COVID hospitalizationsErin Clouse, strategic engagement manager at U. Health, said Utah is now at the point where hospitalizations are going up steeply. Hospitalizations, she said, typically lag a couple of weeks behind a rise in COVID-19 cases. Hire more people rather than firing people. You’re getting paid for their hospitalization. Expand and adapt. This is already endemic. How about the other diseases people are in the hospital for? Can we get a shout out for better nutrition (including Whole food supplements that target immune health) and lifestyle?
