The rate increase will go into effect June 1. Those prices could go up again Dec. 1 if the PUC approves the company's request.

UGI Utilities has announced that it will be raising its natural gas rates next month.said the average homeowner will see a 7.4 percent increase or about $7 more a month.

UGI is also seeking another increase that would take effect on Dec. 1 that, if approved, would raise rates another 5.3 percent. To find out your customer class or how the requested rates may affect your bill, contact UGI at 1-800-276-2722. Customers with a limited or fixed income should call UGI at 1-800-UGI-WARM to determine if they are eligible for one of several energy assistance programs.

UGI customers can challenge the company’s request by filing a formal complaint, sending a letter to the Pa. Public Utility Commission or testifying at a public input hearing. If you want a hearing before a judge, you must file a formal complaint and, by doing so, you assure yourself the opportunity to take part in hearings about the rate request.

Letters or requests for a formal complaint form should be addressed to the PU, P.O. Box 3265, Harrisburg, PA 17105-3265. For more information, call the PUC at 1-800-692-7380.
