U.S. senators join calls for Americans to don masks to slow coronavirus spread

Democrat Michael Bennet of Colorado said his wife, Susan Daggett, was among the many Americans sewing handmade protective masks and promised to send one to Senator Pat Toomey, the Pennsylvania Republican joining him in the push for wider mask use.

The idea of universal face mask use had been largely rejected earlier in the health crisis. It has since been gathering support with the growing belief by health experts that many people who have no idea they are infected are spreading the virus because they either have no symptoms or have not begun to experience symptoms.

President Donald Trump told a briefing he would urge ordinary people to use scarves, to ensure that masks remain available for health professionals on the front lines of the pandemic.

How is every American going to wear a mask when healthcare workers do t even have them?

How in the hell are they going to tell us we need to start wearing masks? I know three nurses, two physicians assistants, one doctor and a partridge is a pear tree who have been wearing the same mask for a week straight. Seems like they are getting ahead of themselves.

I wish this directive was issued on December 31st 2019 when China officially reported the outbreak. We would have saved lives and economy. Why was POTUS not advised correctly?

Way to go, idiots! You are encouraging people to hoard masks at the same time that healthcare workers are reusing masks all day long because they ran out. What's next? An announcement that all toilet paper manufactures have shut down permanently?
