Authorities in the United States and Japan will"jointly monitor" e-commerce group Rakuten after the company sold a 3.65% stake to China's Tencent in March, Kyodo News reported on April 20, citing sources.

The Japanese government will conduct regular interviews with Rakuten and share that information with the United States to prevent the leakage of information to China, the report added.
