More Bay Area restaurants were mentioned in a separate top U.S. list by the outlet.

Earlier this month, the annual ranking 50 Top Pizza released its complete guide to the top pizzerias around the globe, which included Tony’s Pizza Napoletana as a top 10 spot at No. 10 and ranked Doppio Zero at No. 89, both among a fraction of U.S. restaurants mentioned in the overall world rank.

“Yesterday was a very special day for our entire team here at Tony’s,” Tony’s Pizza Napoletana wrote on. “[Chef-owner Tony Gemignani] and [restaurant manager Natale Cardamone] attended the @50toppizza awards ceremony in Naples where Tony took home three awards: Pizza Maker of the Year, Source of Inspiration and #10 in the World Best Pizzeria.”

50 Top Pizza, an Italian based media company, praised the North Beach pizzeria for its mixed menu of ranging pizza styles, such as pizza Romana.More Bay Area pizzerias were honored in a separatethat also featured Tony’s Pizza Napoletana and Doppio Zero in addition to A16, Del Popolo and Flour + Water. At the national level, Tony’s Pizza Napoletana took the No. 2 spot, just behind Una Pizza Napoletana in New York City. Doppio Zero also came in high at No. 15.
