The live audio chat room Spaces will allow conversations among users on any topic from breaking news to entertainment, such as when Taylor Swift used Spaces to preview a song from her new album hours before the album's release. The cast ofThe feature Spaces is public, so any Twitter user can join, including people who don’t follow the host. Listeners can be directly invited into a Space by direct message, tweeting out a link, or sharing a link elsewhere.
Along with the feature rolling out to a lion's share of users, Twitter announced new features for the live chat option, including Ticketed Spaces. In those chats, hosts can monetize the chat. Hosts can set ticket prices and how many are available to sell. A limited group will be able to host Ticketed Spaces in the coming months. Hosts earn the majority of the revenue from ticket sales and Twitter will keep a small amount as well.
Users will now also be able to schedule and set reminders for upcoming Spaces in the coming weeks. Co-hosting will also be available.
