Dorsey said that “After we disarm this pandemic,” the focus of the fund will shift to two other causes: girl’s health and education and universal basic income . That’s because “I believe they represent the best long-term solutions to the existential problems facing the world,” he wrote. “UBI is a great idea needing experimentation. Girl’s health and education is critical to balance.”
Dorsey also explained that he is tapping into his Square holdings because “I own a lot more Square” than Twitter equity, and that he will need to pace sales of the stock “over some time.” He added, “The impact this money will have should benefit both companies over the long-term because it’s helping the people we want to serve.”
According to Dorsey, he has previously donated $40 million to “many orgs with proven impact and efficiency in the past, mostly anonymously” but said he is making his contributions public because, “It’s important to show my work so I and others can learn.” Dorsey’s dual-CEO status has raised questions among investors about how effectively he’s able to lead Twitter and Square simultaneously. In March,— which reportedly had been looking to oust Dorsey — under which Dorsey remained chief exec of the social network. In addition, private-equity firm Silver Lake invested $1 billion in Twitter, while Twitter also appointed Elliott and Silver Lake execs to its board.
Thank you
Wow. This is amazing. God is honored in this.
Another rich person who wants attention 🤦🏼♂️
Wow
Is he single?
Beast man! Incredible move! Blessings and you will make 10x that for this.
This is when you say I don’t care if you are a Democrat or republican, just good on ya jack!
Not bad considering he invited a website that ruined society.
Only 33% of his net worth 💁♂️
Good move but talk is cheap. Tell us how you sell your shares, assign proceeds to proper gov body, buy PPE, ventilators, meds, fund research, etc. People need help now, so focus on your execution Hope this help arrives in time. InThisTogether
Great 👍!
Square steals money & identities. How about just giving people their stuff back.
darrenrovell is this enough for you?
Another reason why twitter is the greatest
Very nice.
Impressive
Well done! ... Paging JeffBezos there's a call for you at the white courtesy phone. How about just donating your tax savings? Something. Anything - including taking care of your employees.
good job way to FOCUS and help humanity
Total Rock Star ! 💫 Hats 🧢 🎩 off ☮️ cheers 🍻 usaherosNaction
All overpaid CEO should give half their pay
Incredible! you’re incredible!! The country/world thanks you!!! 🤩🥳
separatedatbirth
Thank you jack
Where you at JeffBezos
LOVE_4NIMALS This scumbag Jack Dorsey owes me money. Why is he liquidating suddenly.
Would realDonaldTrump do the same? Nope. Wait, is he even worth a billion? Probably not. Plus, he's the only president to have his charity organization dissolved because of corruption.
jamal_barry
jameelajamil I’d rather that he just paid his taxes
thejrut can't take it with you
ryan_connolly Show us the receipts.
Bravo, jack - super philanthropy! cdnpoli
jameelajamil 'Billionaires can never donate enough for you people!' $1 billion is definitely an amazing amount. The other billionaires should do the same.
Wow.
jack Thanks so much. It has really elevated the relief and good feeling in my heart.
Wow good for you and everyone else
jameelajamil Hold up. Donating 1 billion in tax write offs right before a total collapse of the economy
1 billion stake in a company that is making almost no money at the moment. The devil is in the details.
Give it ALL to NYGovCuomo That way it WON'T GET PISSED AWAY TO CovidJTrump
I didn't see him come out in support of progressive taxation though.
neymarjr
Donate it to who? I think he has not thought this through like everything else he does. People help him with stuff. He has good ideas.
jameelajamil Wow, jack Dorsey this is awesome, hopefully an inspiration to all other billionaires.
Now that's what I call, 'Stepping up to the plate!'
Oh wow it amazes me that you people keep falling for this scam. He's no saint! Silicon Valley Community Foundation is a big tax write off scam and its donations are doner controlled. The fund also isn't legally required to distribute any assets, like family foundations are.
Way more generous than Bill Gates ($50M), and Zuckerberg ($25M) donation
jameelajamil It would be great if this foundation had a website so people could request help.
That really is incredible. What a way to step up. Thank you, Mr. Dorsey. 🙏
-Boomers be like. 'Were taking this cash to the grave with us.' -Millennials Be like 'I'll give 1/3 of my net-worth.' BREAKING
Waiting for someone to comment that it's not enough 😂
Good, lead by example if you're serious about changing the world.
jameelajamil Wow. This is phenomenal! 🇨🇦
Why not Flu relief, since more people die from that?
Take pay block off vagrants! Or keep it!
jameelajamil This is legit. Finally.
jameelajamil And someone will still say it's not enough
Makes zuckerburg look like a schmuck
Nice Jack! Now if we can get the government to change the tax code and employment laws so the richest nation in the history of the world is not dependent upon charity.
Also, He's a billionaire.
WoopEdodo.
Already much more useful than Bill Gates.
Good grief, he looks like a homeless
unreal. What a legacy!
Just a billion dollars? What a joke. These rich scum think that giving a little bit of money makes up for all the harm they have caused. Tax their wealth at 100% and give that money to every PoC in America.
WHAT A CHAD
jameelajamil In spite of twitters problems. I’m sticking with it for the moment. why anyone does Facebook is beyond me
rosana Acho q é a maior até o momento né?
Other billionaires- take note!
jameelajamil he's not donating ANYTHING he's moving money around in his own accounts for a tax break!
jameelajamil suuuuuurrrrrreeeeeew
Now THAT’S a donation! Thank you, Mr. Dorsey.
This is amazing what a staggering amount. All other billionaire's are cowards.
Now THATS a donation
his sexiness quotient just went up
