World leaders send congratulatory messages to Turkey and President Erdogan as the nation marks its 97th anniversary of transition into a republic Oct29 RepublicDay

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan visits Anitkabir, the mausoleum of Turkish Republic founder Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, for the 97th anniversary of the Republic Day in Ankara on October 29, 2020.

"Our greatest strength is our historical legacy. Without preserving this legacy, neither the July 15 [coup attempt] nor the value of our republic can be understood," Erdogan said on Thursday at the opening of the National Struggle Exhibition at the Nation's Library in the capital Ankara.
