Black lawmakers persuaded to support Joe Biden's 1994 crime bill by President Bill Clinton received 'almost nothing in return.'

The crime bills held wide support from Black pastors and 28 of 38 members of the Congressional Black Caucus at the time, including the chairman of the Black Caucus who co-sponsored the 1986 crack cocaine sentence law. Carlson defended Biden's role in promoting the bills, while Sharpton said"he was not alone," but has since worked to right the wrong.

Sharpton highlighted Trump's support of a national stop-and-frisk policy during his 2016 campaign and said the president has done nothing to commute unfair sentences for people who committed non-violent drug crimes. Sharpton defended Biden following Thursday's debate, in which Biden referred to both pieces of legislation as a"mistake.

During last Thursday's debate, Biden described how he plans to move forward and erase some of the mistakes from his past support of the now-derided legislation. Critics of Biden's campaign have promoted video clips of Biden's Senate floor warnings of"predators on our streets" who were"beyond the pale."

Al Sharpton can defend Biden on the 1994 crime bill if he wants. The question is how does Tucker feel about the 1994 crime bill? Can Tucker admit the crime bill was wrong? Biden admitted it was wrong and he disagreed with parts of the crime bill in 1994.

Let’s not get it twisted, Republicans pushed for the crime bill to 1994. They wanted to make Democrats look like they weren’t tough on crime. To try to hold Democrats exclusively accountable for the crime bill is disingenuous at best and sinister at worst.

That hole is 26 years deep. I sense desperation.

However, there were still plenty of flashes of anger and division during the 90-minute debate. Trump nailed this. “Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.” ― Abraham Lincoln Time to talk about plans if you have them.... Trump didn't have any.

Critic's Notebook: Biden Holds Steady, Trump Tones It Down in Final Presidential DebateNBC News' Kristen Welker oversaw a somewhat more substantive, somewhat more sedate debate — and avoided becoming a Chris Wallace-esque punchline. He had to tone it down or else his ass would have been on MUTE looool Trump showing a high-level of maturity tonight! I think he's finally found his stride! /s 🤣 He couldn’t explain how his administration would reunite nearly 600 CHILDREN with their parents, doesn’t believe in climate change, has no plan to save 200,000 Americans btw now and Jan and that’s after having already killed 220,000, but go off about “tone”. Fuking goofs.
