Roger Stone arrives at court prior to his sentencing hearing, Feb. 20, 2020, in Washington, D.C.ABC News had a team of reporters and producers inside and outside the courthouse.Former Trump campaign adviser Roger Stone departs after he was sentenced to three years and four months in prison for charges that include lying to Congress, obstruction of justice and witness tampering, at U.S. District Court in Washington, Feb. 20, 2020.
Before announcing the sentence, Jackson read lengthy prepared remarks -- during which Stone and three of his lawyers stood before her, hands clasped in front, with expressionless faces. "The notion that this case rises and falls on whether Russians colluded in the election ... is false," Jackson added.
Jackson then turned to other circumstances she must take into account -- Roger Stone's record. She noted that even the letters in support of Stone characterized him as a"bare-knuckled brawler" and a"dirty trickster."Jackson lauded Stone for his support of family members and using his"voice and political acumen" to advocate for various social efforts such as same-sex marriage and Alzheimer awareness."Nothing about this case was a joke.
The new government prosecutor on Stone's case takes to the lectern to"apologize to the court for any confusion" caused by the Justice Department's dual sentencing recommendation memorandums. He refuses to say whether he wrote the memorandum - even though he signed it. Asked if he was ordered to write the second memoradum, Crabb again says he would not discuss it.
On a third proposed sentence enhancement, Judge Jackson sides with defense counsel -- alleviating some pressure on Stone. Justifying her decision to side with prosecutors, she recites several specific quotes -- many of which include expletives -- that reflect Stone's threats against Credico and his dog.
It’s the only reason he was prosecuted. “For covering up for the President” was what the judge said. Only problem is that it was proven that the President didn’t do anything wrong so what did Stone cover?
But President Trump didn’t commit a crime!
This is like when the police investigate themselves and find they did nothing wrong.
Does anyone know who the man with the sign, behind Stone is? He seems to always be present when Stone is going to court. Thanks!
covering up for Trump in the Mueller investigation which found no wrong doing by Trump. so 9 years in prison for Stone. yep that all makes total sense 🙄
'Covering up' *WHAT*, exactly?
Just over 3 years? Ok. I guess.
Stone acting the perverse corrupt weirdo again. GLAD he got 40 months ...he should have gotten way more.
Does everyone get to leave jail in order to start preparing for their appeal after being sentenced? RogerStone
Probably needs more hair plugs.
🔥🔥🔥
Lock all of these criminals up.
It’s disgusting. He is getting 3 years for lying. Hillary lies and people died. She gets millions for speaking. She probably gets money for farting.
When does American people get Justice for Comey, Brennan, Clapper. And of course the queen criminal herself, Hillary Rotten Clinton ? When is she going to be prosecuted for the 33,000 emails, she destroyed under subpoena ? That you media types have been protecting for decades !
Nobody should ever be in jail or prison if they are a FIRST TIME NON-VIOLENT OFFENDER. It’s utterly stupid on so many levels. FreeRogerStone CriminalJusticeReform my vote goes to Trump or Bernie whoever has the best plan to end mass incarceration
No handcuffs? He gets to strut around in the stupid spy bs spy suit?
Thank you, Judge Jackson.
