Trump's July Fourth fireworks, flyover plans disturb D.C. Mayor Bowser

July Fourth comes as Americans are dealing with surging cases of COVID-19 and confusion over best practices in public, especially on masks. Trump has been criticized for pushing to go ahead with large campaign rallies and other public gatherings, like the upcoming holiday event, despite the increased risks of infection., who doesn’t have the right to shut down the holiday spectacle because it’s on federal land, but warned the federal government about the obvious dangers of such a large crowd.

“We know this is a special event for the Department of Interior. We’ve communicated to them that we do not think this is in keeping with the best CDC and Department of Health guidance. But this event will take place entirely on federal property,” Bowser said. “We are giving D.C. residents the same message about any of their outings for the holiday weekend. Ask yourself, do you need to be there,” she said. “Ask yourself, can you anticipate or know who all is going to be around you? If you go downtown, do you know if you’ll be able to social distance?”

White House spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany said Wednesday that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s recommendations on masks — which say the face coverings “are most likely to reduce the spread of COVID-19 when they are widely used by people in public settings” — are not mandatory in themselves.

I pray for those who attend that they do not pay for their stupidity by attending to the cost of the lives of themselves and their family.

I'm still waiting to hear what the MEDICAL bill is for this virus.

People should grab the masks and give them to hospital personnel so they have masks.

The left wasn't concerned about masks when looting and rioting and protesting was happened so they blew it for everyone. No one will follow the rules if the left doesn't have to follow them. It sucks but why should the rules be different for certain activities?

Federal government officials and mayor of Washington want people to stay away from 4th of July fireworks and not be enticed by a free mask.

Didn’t seem to mind the thousands that congregated to protest and riot for a month. Now, people want to gather to celebrate their country abd watch some fireworks and it’s a health concern? Such a joke.

Why is it that the states with the most COVID19 new cases are all Red states -- Texas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, etc. -- is there something special about these states that makes the pandemic so virulent? Just asking...
