President Trump challenged claims that his protectionist impulses have disrupted global trade during his speech at the annual World Economic Forum

DAVOS, Switzerland — President Donald Trump reassured foreign leaders at the annual World Economic Forum on Tuesday that America’s long-term economic relationships are not in peril and are instead contributing to a “blue-collar boom” inside the United States.

Ignoring the historic political moment back home, Trump instead kept his focus trained on the purported successes of his economic agenda — touting steady job growth, low unemployment and the “phase one” trade agreement with China — even as wages continue to stagnate for the vast majority of American workers.

But Trump’s celebratory remarks accompanied a stern warning to the elite global audience. Nodding to his “America First” agenda, the president cautioned his foreign counterparts not to pollute his efforts to level the field of international trade and said his top priority is U.S. workers. His threat came as senior U.S. officials continue to negotiate with France over the country’s tax on revenue from digital services earned in France.

Alberto Alemanno, professor of EU law at HEC Business School in Paris, described the president’s speech as an “endless, tedious and bombastic list of largely unsubstantiated claims that he hopes may secure him (a) second term.”

I like how he thinks he's talking to a room full of his uninformed deplorable cult members. Poor Deluded Donald doesn't know that they are all better educated, more experienced and more knowledgeable than him.

Yeah, each country should put their interests first. Sounds reasonable to the rest of us. 🇺🇸❤️
