In a legally ambiguous move, the president turned to executive orders while negotiations between Democrats and Republicans remain at an impasse.

signed four executive actions Saturday afternoon that include a $400-per-week boost to unemployment benefits and a payroll tax cut in an attempt to provide Americans some economic help.

Trump appeared optimistic about the threat of a lawsuit over his executive power, telling reporters gathered at his New Jersey golf club, “If we get sued, it’s somebody that doesn’t want people to get money. And that’s not going to be a very popular thing.”, states would be required to pay 25% of the additional unemployment benefits ― at a time when states are already straining their budgets as they fight a virus outbreak that is still raging across many parts of the country.

Asked why he settled on $400, Trump said the lesser amount gives people “a great incentive to go back to work.”

Trump's aides are pondering possible executive actions. LetHerSpeak explaining to the trumpcult how trump is dragging us into fascism is useless. they know now. they see it too. they're for it, as long as the fascists in power are them. Legal reporters - get to work. Vote by mail has been fully litigated in states that have done it, some exclusively like Oregon, for decades now. There's plenty of legal precedent.
