TORONTO — Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will testify before a public inquiry Friday on his decision to invoke never-before-used emergency powers to clear the self-described “Freedom Convoy” demonstrations by

Few witnesses have emerged unscathed. A lawyer for convoy organizers was ejected after seeking to advance a baseless conspiracy theory. A cartoon in the Globe and Mail depicted inquiry participants as clowns. The exception was Paul Rouleau, the judge leading the inquiry, who thinks, “Beginning to see a pattern here …”

The Emergencies Act requires a public inquiry be convened to determine whether the threshold for its invocation Stephanie Carvin, an associate professor of international relations at Carleton University, called Lucki’s failure to disclose that information “mind-boggling.” Ottawa residents were among the first to testify. They spoke of the unease and fear that marked life during the protests and the disruption caused by the incessant honking and the fumes released by idling vehicles. They said there was a sense of “lawlessness” in the city. The inquiry heard federal officials received death threats, and police laid more than 530 charges.weekend of protest.

abuse of power, glad I don't live in Canada

You know this was passed in Parliament, right, through a democratic process. Our PM doesn't have presidential powers, nor does he act like he's a king. (Pretty sure there's no gold toilet at his place either.)

He’s a nazi at this point JustinTrudeau

Castro's son. You know the saying the apple doesn't fall far from tree. He does not have the peoples interests. He wants like other globlist to enslave you.

Interesting that there were no questions about race. How predominantly white protestors (who were more violent) were tolerated by the police as opposed to their treatment of Black or Indigenous protestors. Reflects the whiteness of the inquiry.

Our parliamentary system doesn't have just one person making decisions.

The powers have been invoked before, but under different legislation. The War Measures Act.

The EA was absolutely necessary. They wanted to unseat the govt. Billions of dollars of trade was being impacted. A city was occupied and held hostage for 3 weeks. RCMP arrested 4 people with a truck full of weapons. It was right for it to be enacted.

TRUTH dies in darkness. REPUBLIC.

Wow judging by these comments, Elon certainly has created a shithole of scum and bigotry .

Breakingviews - Stablecoins fall few cents short of respectabilityWith the collapse of FTX, the big game in cryptocurrency investment has gone from “let’s make money” to “where exactly is the money?” The unceremonious implosion of Sam Bankman-Fried’s exchange showed what happens when funds supposed to be in one place turn up in another, or nowhere at all. That will reignite the debate over how to regulate digital assets – especially when it comes to stablecoins, the most money-like part of the cryptoverse. But policymakers should be wary of clamping down too hard. johnsfoley
