Trans swimmer breaking college records sparks debate

Lia Thomas, a 22-year-old trans woman from Pennsylvania, is breaking numerous college records in swimming but is the subject of fierce debate because of her status as a transgender athlete.

On Friday, she won the 500-yard freestyle in 4:34.06, setting a new record, Akron pool record, Penn school record, and the Ivy League record. This season is the first time Thomas—who was previously named Will—has competed in the swimming in the University of Pennsylvania's women's team.

Why is this subject so difficult for the college? It’s a dude. Period.

I'm a biologist! Identity Philosophy is wrong about this! They want to submit the biological to the cultural! This person has the same biological structure as me! Cultural and biological need to be combined! Please, to respect trans people, do TRANSGAMES! What´ss the problem?

It should spark a debate. Men are physically stronger so there’s an automatic advantage. If anything maybe Trans folks can have their own team?

either make a trans league just for them, or put them in with their biological groups. this is just straight unfair and horrible for competitions.

Trans people need to stay in their lanes. There are plenty. Women have one, men have one, and trans folks can have another.
