Too many times I have seen field grade and general officers abuse their powers. More often higher commanders will support the decisions of their subordinate commanders without actually looking into complaints lodged against lower ranking officers and NCOs by subordinates.

Sexual assaults were a huge problem when I was in the Army 70-78. It's disgusting that it's even worse now and they are ' considering ' changes. The current method of addressing this hasn't worked in 50+ yrs.

Top US general is on point when he says he's open to taking decisions on sexual assault out of military commanders hands. B/c as Mehdi Hasan has so poignantly observed: 'It's not just a few bad apples. But perhaps the whole system is bad!' Therefore systemic change is required!

Even during my time in the Navy, there were countless allegations made with little to no reaction from the command. Our XO was even inappropriate with Jr Sailors during command mixers. Much like cops, the military should have zero control over investigations into themselves.
