Here's how you can help.On a recent weekend, a national media outlet sent a news push alert to my phone that threw me for a loop, so I clicked it to read., and that’s on top of a 17% spike last year.

I knew inflation was bad, the worst in my adult life, but the idea of turning off my heat in the winter because it’s too expensive? It’s a dilemma many of us likely haven’t faced before. But indeed, times are that hard, and people are making that choice. The mission of the annual Season for Sharing campaign now under IndyStar’s Our Children initiative is to harness the power of journalism and our reach as a newsroom to make a difference for Central Indiana’s youth. Since 1994, together we have raised more than $2 million.This is a favorite campaign of mine at IndyStar because of the impact it has directly on our neighbors and the well-being of the next generation.
