GlaxoSmithKline's unlikely partners in coronavirus research: its biggest rivals

Glaxo had a potentially critical role to play in the response to Covid-19, as one of the world’s largest vaccine sellers.

Its most prominent contribution thus far is a proprietary ingredient that helps boost a vaccine’s protective power. That ingredient, known as an adjuvant, is being prepared for safety and testing at a Glaxo site in Wavre, Belgium.
