The media giant is bringing two new ‘Star Trek’ series to its rebranded streaming service. It will need a lot more than Trekkies.
ViacomCBS Chair Shari Redstone is now betting she can “super size” the flagging brand by leveraging the decades oldalong with other fan-favorite franchises, as the cornerstone of a service recrafted and renamed Paramount+. Paramount+ brings together ViacomCBS’ strongest TV brands — Nickelodeon, MTV, Comedy Central, CBS, BET and Smithsonian — under one tent. It debuts March 4 with more than 30,000 television episodes, 2,500 movies, around-the-clock news and more than 1,000 live sporting events, a collection ViacomCBS CEO Bob Bakish referred to as a “mountain of content,” in reference to the Paramount’s iconic, star encircled logo.
ParamountPlus won’t come close to netflix or disneyplus subscriber numbers as they are worldwide and paramount plus is only North America.
