Apple CEO Tim Cook had tweeted Saturday that the company would donate "millions of masks for health professionals in the US and Europe." Pence made his comments during a White House press briefing late Tuesday, thanking Apple and other companies, such as Ford Motor Co. , 3M and McDonald's Corp. for the "level of generosity" they are showing to the American people. Apple is the latest tech company to come to the aid of overwhelmed health-care workers. Facebook Inc. earlier donated its stockpile of 720,000 face masks, and Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk acquired 1,200 ventilators from China and is sending them to U.S. hospitals.
