Tim Cook said Apple has used its supply chain to procure and donate 10 million N95 protective masks to combat the coronavirus by rachsandl

... [+]Topline

In a tweet, Cook said Apple’s operations team is “helping to find and purchase masks from our supply chain in coordination with governments around the world.” N95 respirators are masks that form a protective seal around a wearer’s mouth, filtering out at least 95% of particles in the air, according to the Centers for Disease Control, which makes them necessary to protect healthcare workers from being exposed to the disease from patients.

Pence thanks Apple for donating 9 million N95 face masks to health-care workersVice President Mike Pence said Tuesday that Apple Inc. has donated 9 million N95 face masks to health-care workers amid the coronavirus crisis. Apple CEO Tim Cook had tweeted Saturday that the company would donate "millions of masks for health professionals in the US and Europe." Pence made his comments during a White House press briefing late Tuesday, thanking Apple and other companies, such as Ford Motor Co. , 3M and McDonald's Corp. for the "level of generosity" they are showing to the American people. Apple is the latest tech company to come to the aid of overwhelmed health-care workers. Facebook Inc. earlier donated its stockpile of 720,000 face masks, and Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk acquired 1,200 ventilators from China and is sending them to U.S. hospitals. Apple and Facebook apparently had the face-mask stockpile for employees following years of serious wildfires in California. Govt incompetence. Relies on Chinas and corporate donations for essentials Gee, thanks Apple for helping out people too incompetent to do their own jobs right. Why did apple have 9 million masks and how much more does it have? We have health workers dying out there.
