The suspect posted on social media several times prior to the shooting, stating on Facebook that he would target an elementary school.O’Rourke has been critical of Republicans in the wake of the shooting and on Wednesday held an impromptu news conference of his own outside the elementary. “These massacres aren’t natural disasters, acts of God, or random. They are totally predictable, direct consequences of the choices made by Greg Abbott and the majority of those in the legislature,” O’Rourke tweeted Tuesday.
In addition to Abbott, Wednesday’s news conference included Republicans Sen. Ted Cruz, Sen. John Cornyn, Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan.
