The influenza pandemics of the 20th century each lasted around two years; now, 21 months into our battle with COVID-19, Omicron is accelerating what could be this pandemic’s final chapter. Who will we be on the other side?

of weddings, dining, travel, and sports all coexisted alongside vaccine holdouts, breakthrough infections, new variants, booster shots, and regional surges.might make it feel as though we’re still squarely in the liminal phase. But, in fact, we may soon be tipping into a post-liminal paradigm. Omicron’s extraordinary contagiousness—combined with rising vaccination and booster rates—could mean that, in the coming months, nearly all Americans will have some level of immunity to.

At a global level, as at the national one, the health crisis of the pandemic has put another preëxisting crisis into sharper relief. Effective pandemic response requires coördination across nations; this is the work of the World Health Organization, of which America has long been the largest funder. In 2019, the U.S. contributed more than four hundred million dollars to the W.H.O.

In 1954, a researcher named Muzafer Sherif conducted what would become one of the most famous experiments in social psychology. Sherif was interested in the dynamics of group conflict: how easily loyalties form; how little it takes for rival factions to quarrel; what, if anything, can be done to repair relations. I have a feeling that Covid-19 is not going to be over after 2 years. Wuhan went into Lockdown on the 23rd of Jan 2020 & in the flu pandemics before the last wave was considerably smaller than the 2nd. This current wave of Covid is by far the largest. Global infections.

Nature decides. Viruses create our evolution too. I’ll be natural and pure immunity on the other side. I’ll take 100’s of millions of years anyday over 1 year of flawed human research.

This piece rests heavily on the assumption that natural immunity is lasting. From what we have seen so far, it is not.

Finished and in decline.

I love how nature performs to our schedule. 3 months to go and it’s all perfect again yippeee!

After? I may be left behind, as one of the vulnerable population. Earth will turn again, while 3rd world, & immune suppressed folks will be collateral damage, forgotten. That is, until we find away to boost the antibodies safely for the immune suppressed & vax developing nations

907 thousand US dead, 5.7 million dead worldwide

Onward and upward! 2022!

👏😷💕🙏
