New York Ahead of a critical global climate conference in November, a UN report released Wednesday shows that many of the world's largest fossil fuel producers are still planning to ramp up production in the coming years, and will be burning far more fossil fuels in 2030 than what is consistent with global climate pledges.

The UN Environment Programme analysis shows that 15 major fossil fuel-generating countries will produce roughly 110% more coal, oil, and gas in 2030 than what would be necessary to limit warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, and 45% more than what would be consistent with 2 degrees. Scientists have said limiting warming to those thresholds is critical to avoid the worst consequences of the climate crisis.

governments and liberals think they can control the climate huh? does anyone seriously believe that?

If President Couch Potato keeps his inflation going, Americans won't be able to afford gasoline or other fossil fuels to power their homes and cars.

the US is risking Planet Earth just to keep Manchin happy... unbelievable.

Nothing racist about it. So tired of having to change things because people are oversensitive crybabies. Its embarrassing that people like that exist.

This is a leadership problem even in our country. Senator Manchin is keeping us burning coal to enrich his family fortune. It is time to invest in new leadership to save the planet Manchin needs to be replaced by a new generation of leadership.

Cool I just spent almost $50 on half a tank of gas, so help anytime soon would be nice

The production of fossil fuel is not the solution to fight climate change. We need more investment in renewable, clean energies.

FYI, the Chinese government has just ordered coal mines operators to double production.

Do people actually use this place for news, I mean their the most trusted source out there, lol. Not being sarcastic. 😀🙂
